Ivan, Brian, I take on board what you are saying and I understand your point and why you both raise it. But thankfully we still have a democracy in this country and we are all entitled to our views you yours me mine. I to remember only to well the time and motion man with his long coat and hat walking around the ships deck with his pencil and notebook yes it spelt the end for our beloved M.N. And I agree you cant stop progress, But you also cant stop human beings wanting to earn a living wage to feed themselves and there families. That's not a democratic right that's a fundamental right, I had to laugh the other night I had an interview on radio BBC, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice Rt Hon Michael Gove MP (Con) He was banging the drum for the drop in crime figures over the last six months in inner city's like Manchester, Quote.... recorded crime as in burglary, mugging, street crime, ETC.. With the 25% cuts in policing of course reported crime is down there are no bloody police to arrest them, Is this also your vision of progress which is irreversible, I have said for a long time we will have vigilantes on the streets of Britain in my life time, The sad thing is there is only one thing more dangerous than a young man who cant feed himself and his family................... That's a young man who cant feed himself and his family equipped with a gun or a knife. Its coming lads and its not down to Harold Wilson Brian, Its down to this tory government and its treatment and attitude towards our youth that's progress Regards all Terry.

    Hi terry
Can you honestly think that a Labour Government, with all their clowns combined, will create Two Million new Jobs.?
Where are they going to get them from. China?
Two Million jobs in the UK are taken by immigrants from Europe, because of the freedom of movement between European countries. LABOUR will not give a vote to get out of Europe to release these two million jobs, With Labour we are stuck in Europe. and all its immigrants who take British Jobs.
Who is going to employ them for starters?
Will they reduce the Benefits so it will be worth while going out working instead of staying at home watching Jeremy Kyle on TV every day?
In a lot of cases there is No incentive to work. The difference between the Benefits and a wage is very little so why bother going to work..
Everyone can feed their families today Terry, £20 for a child every week, all the rest of the Benefits, Who do you think pays for all that Benefit, us the Tax Payer.
I was brought up during the 1930s and throughout WW2, Bombed out , stood amongst burning rubble, with NOTHING, ALL GONE, just what we had on our backs, no food, no possessions, no furniture, no belongings, no money, no where to go, no where to sleep, everything gone up in smoke. long before one penny of benefits were available,
My heart weeps for these people who think they are hard done to. We had nothing, Not one penny but mother still fed us.
I see them in the alehouse, supping pints of ale and going outside smoking, and whinging about the choice of free food in a food bank. it is bleddy disgusting the way this Nation has turned into a Nation of bums and whingers.
Terry you will never ever get one tiny morsel of sympathy from me for anyone who whinges about feeding a family. Everyone is responsible for their own destiny. not the Nation of Tax Payers who have sorted themselves out and are still paying their way with Taxes.
There is a MacDonalds near me, there has been a Big Sign up outside for weeks, Staff wanted, no takers, If I was unemployed I would be in there, Not the best of jobs but a Job and all the Burgers you can eat, So why does no one who has a family to feed go and get a job?? because if he does he will lose his benefits.
    Cheers
    Brian

Brian, I take it you do understand the benefit system and the way it works, With interest rates about to rise any time now, Osborne has just slashed tax credits for middle class brits who work, Do you realize the hardship and how much of a struggle the ordinary Joe public is facing week in and week out. No a labour party couldn't produce 2,000,000 Jobs no one can. What's needed is a little compassion and understanding of the situation young people find them selves in. Not a kick in the teeth when they are down, You keep making comparisons of your hardship when you where a young man, I thought we had moved onto the situation today or progress, I must say I do feel like I am in a no win situation at times whatever I post. Get with the times and bang the drum for our countries future our youth not all our yesterday's. Regards Terry.

terry your in a no win situation because you talk a load of crap.
This reminds me of the very old joke about the 2 mothers stood at their front doors watching the troops that had been recruited from their village and were parading through the village to ship out to the trenches(WW1)

Terry this post was initially about Tube drivers going on strike because their union said they couldn't live on £50,000 a year and worked a 38 hour week, and the remaining 130 hours in the week they were not working was insufficient for them to have a family life (yer aving a laff, aint yer!)not about young men or politicians it was about greed, my daughter a Doctor doesn't get £50,000 a year and works more than 38 hours and believe me in her profession it is a constant life of exams and qualifications updating she also lives in London. However as others have said if there is something wrong in this country and you're from Liverpool (exocets coming in!) blame the Tories and if anything beneficial happens give credit to Labour and thus it will ever be, apparently!

    Hi Terry
I survive on a small pension. They take £100 a month off me in Income Tax, then I have to pay Council Tax of £1,500 a year,
That is a total tax deduction of TWO AND A HALF THOUSANDS OF POUNDS out of my Pension. A Big Hole.
The Jobless on Benefits do Not pay Income Tax even tho` they get more income than I do. some can get up to £27,000 a year TAX FREE. also with Housing Benefit they do not pay Council Tax. So now £2,500 better off than me on a pension.
The neighbours round me who are on Benefits are far better off than me, `Heyou` who lives next door has two cars a new Mercedes and a Toyota for the wife. He has never worked since he arrived in this country Nine years ago, he is 45 years old and laughs at me.
He gets everything, he got a new Gas Boiler and new radiators last summer, for free, I applied, NO CHANCE, because I am not on Benefits I am a Tax Payer and Tax Payers cannot claim a penny of anything.
My Gas boiler is 15 years old, I cannot get a free one. So my taxes go to support Bums like this in comfort.
This is why I get peed off with people on Benefits,
    Brian.

Terry, There has been a drop in RECORDED yearly crime figures since about 2005, thanks to the last Labour Government.
The last labour Government relaxed the rules on crimes, years ago if you were caught shoplifting you would be taken to court fined and a have a criminal record.
Labour left it to the discretion of the Police on what to do,:
    1) Formally charge the person- go to court take up Police time, if guilty a criminal record.
    2) Accept a Police caution and accept an on the spot fine for the misdemeanor, no criminal record.
Option 2 is the easiest for the Police as doesn't tie up resources attending court, filing in paperwork.
How do I know, when I worked at Nottingham MAgistrates Courts the number of people attending he courts dropped off dramatically. Prosecution Lawyers complained bitterly to the courts that there revenue was in freefall, nothing the courts could do about it.
Police are complaining about lack of funds but the 42 Police force in England and Wales have over £1b stashed away in reserves, time the spent it instead f bleating.

Terry mate, you and I will not agree on unions any more than you and Cappy will. But we live in an era of free speech and we all have the right o say what we feel on the subject and I will be the first to defend your right to that. But my friend the world is changing at a rapid pace those who fail to see that will be left behind. Sadly so many of the union men are nothing more than dinosaurs when it comes to modern day working rules and conditions.A employer should have the right if offering employment to set the conditions and rate of pay, if it is not to your liking someone else will.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Absolutely not John, There are a lot of decent people still in the uk that believe we all our youth included deserve a fair crack of the whip, Your the brain here John have you worked out how the trains can run when the third rail is swamped with water, I new the answer to that when I was a school kid, You may have been the best dressed on the school bus that took you to school as a kid, Test me if you think I am talking crap but at the same time give me the answer brains to the question I posed, You cant because you would not even know what to look for on Wiki. There are them that can and them that believe they can you obviously fall into that category. You think you are something special on your yacht in Spain. You wont wined me up fella post what you like but don't pull away from the fact that you are the one who talks crap you don't have the answers I do, The proof is in the pudding produce it
