On question time last night again the EU question came up and there was much shouting from the audience over the panels opinions. Alex Salmon coming out with the statement that Brexit would lead to a 2nd Scottish referendum on leaving the U.K.
The only true answer I heard to the question " will staying in the U.K. allow us control over our borders and immigration" was from a business leader whose answer was "NO".
Not one ,member of Conservative, Labour, Liberal, Greens party, Trade Unions, who support staying in Europe after dodgy Dave has supposedly wrung changes to our terms of entry into the EU giving us guarantees over the EURO, Sovereignty etc. realise or will state, that if the vote to remain in gets carried then the EU can then turn round and overturn those concessions in the blink of an eyelid. It would only take one EU member to object to those terms after june 23rd and the whole lot would be tossed into the cesspit of Brussels.
The only sure fired way of ensuring that we have full control of our own destiny is to come out of Europe.
As regards trade, just look at the U.K. car manufacturers who have seen record output this year driven mainly by demand from overseas markets, mainly the EU countries. Are they suddenly going to stop wanting our products? No way. Trade deals can and should be sorted in weeks not months or years as after all if the product you want is available and at the right price who is going to wait around for Richard craniums to negotiate each word/line in a deal.

John, I watched Q.T last night, Salmond is a smug self opiniated barsteward.
Yes, Tories, Labour and S.N.P are all in favour of staying in.
One opinion that I have heard recently and it was drowned out- if we leave, the EU will fall apart- lets leave, let the whole democratic edifice fall into disrepair.
    Vote -NO

The EU will fall apart if we are in or out, I was reading that Italy is coming up with huge euro problems, just like Greece, and Greece has not gone away, they are unable to pay back the agreed loan. The immigrants are putting extra strain on the Greeks, and all the promised help from the European nations has not arrived. However they will hold lots of talks on it !, in addition all the smaller nations are reinstating their border controls, and good on em, kt

    Re Numbers 139 and 140.
SIR EDWARD RICHARD GEORGE HEATH, KG,MBE.
In 1940 like thousands of others, Ted Heath was called up for military service in the army. After completing his military training at Storrington in Sussex, he underwent further training before being commissioned as a 2nd Lt in 1941. Ted Heath's regiment arrived in France on 6th July 1944 where over the next few months he was involved in heavy fighting in Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. He also took part in "Operation Veritable", the action to capture the land between the rivers of the Rhine and Maas. As a result of this action he was awarded the military MBE and also mentioned in dispatches. MID means he showed particular bravery and courage above and beyond the call of duty. He attained the rank of Lt Colonel of his regiment. Perhaps people should be more discriminate before making unjust allegations against him.
One thing for sure, he proved he was a brave soldier who fought with distinction for this country, so give Sir Edward some credit as "He Deserves It".
    May he R.I.P.

Re#145. Re comments from 139&140. Perhaps the observations by 140 may be considered a trifle critical but could hardly be considered 'an unjust allegation' as you so elegantly put it. Possibly more like a considered observation, to which this forum is privileged to enjoy. As to my own comment(139), most politicians be they alive or dead should expect to be lampooned at some point in their lives. They are or were public figures, and in a free society we have the freedom to exercise that privilege.

As said Fouro would have served his country better if stayed in Army. According to his CV that I read he was in the RA. As for his Knighthood that is standard procedure to every ex PM. Apart from a few recent exceptions. JS

There have been a number of polis over the years who have served their country in the theatre of war but it often gets lost once they go into politics.

As to leaving the EU, look at NZ they were major exporters to Uk with Lamb, cheese etc. Once UK went into Eu they could no longer trade with them, but look at NZ now. It went forth and found new markets and changed the way it operated as a nation. If they can do it so can UK.

As someone said the motor industry is going gangbusters. Land Rover put on 1100 additional workers and run a three shift policy. The vehicles are one of the most popular here in Oz and last year in New Caledonia calculated that about one in four were from the Land Rover stable.

The only thing that will stop UK from becoming great again is either staying in, heaven help them then, or when out no one doing their bit. But as we know from the past UK has the ability to do what ever it puts its mind to.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Another letter in this weeks International Express...Titled Desperate. The PM must be really desperate if he is looking for support from the Colonies. He or his spin doctor obviously do not read the 1X. The Colonies are tired of being drawn into wars, whether it be an out and out war in a distant country , or a war of words. If he had read the 1X at all he should be man enough by now to realize that Australians, by their letters and E-mails, are all for Britain coming out of the EU, certainly our present PM is, as he favours Australia becoming a Republic. So be a man for once in your life Mr. Cameron and fight your own battles. Kalamunda W.A.

Another.. Titled Brexit..As a WW11 veteran, my long distance view of the EU is that Germany, having failed to conquer Europe militarily in two world wars, is now well on the way to conquering it financially, Cameron and his anti Brexit supporters are the direct descendants of Chamberlain and his appeasers. But where is the Churchill of today? Boris Johnson? ..Motueka, New Zealand. 1X equals International Express.

In the MOS, Vince Cable the ex Liberal MP has state that Parliament could reject the Brexit vote. If only 50 per cent of the electorate vote and its a 51 to 49 split he claims the government could ignore the vote. He admits that such a scene could turn messy.
    So much for democracy.
