Concerning Brexit no one over the age of 65 should have been allowed to vote, it was not down to our generation to determine the fate of the UK for our children and grand children, that decision should have been down to then to decide. We as pensioners have had our lives.

You are entitled to your opinion on the subject (Which I think is a load of old tosh) As long as I have a breath left in my body and as long as I live in a democracy I will fight for the right to decide MY FUTURE. One of the main reasons for Brexit was because of the people of this country especially the older generation were fed up with people who they had NOT VOTED FOR making decisions that effected them. The younger generation had a chance to vote and the exit polls showed that a lot of them could not even be bothered to vote.

#41 You would go well with Blair, you both have lost the concept of democracy and what it stands for. All UK citizens regardless of age are allowed to vote, what would you like next compulsory euthanasia at say 70?

The people of UK democratically voted to leaver the EU, Blair obviously does not understand the idea that majority rule.
The people voted for a number of reasons, lack of border control, rules and laws imposed by another nation, monies that could be better spent in UK used to prop up the UK and many other reasons, all of the valid.

As to the Iraq war, at that time there were a number of Iraq politicians who wanted regime change, the west refused to assist.
Those same politicians then convinced MI5 of weapons of mass destruction, they in turn convinced Blair who then convinced Bush and Howard. The whole sorry episode was spelt out here in Oz on a major paper some years ago.

Rodders, I agree with the dual citizen ship concept you have. When we came to Oz we naturalized as soon as we could, for two reasons.
One, this is where we paid tax, two it would I considered be hypocritical to continue using a UK passport when getting my living here in Oz.
Two other reasons, one it allows me to vote, second it makes movement in and out of the country much easier.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.

    Hi John.
That is the best one I have read after about ten years on this site, that 65 year old and older shouldn't get the vote, the next thing is to advocate putting down anyone reaching the age of 65, the people of that age were the ones who worked bloody hard so Britain could recover from the trials of the second world war, who despite difficulties got Britain up on its feet, despite all the **** politicians they had to work with. From my point of view most of the ones that wanted to stay couldn't get of their **** to vote, you can't put old heads on young bodies; most of the luvies haven't worked and they think that by staying in the EU they will not be discovered laying on their backs, there are a lot of young people who voted to leave in the hope that jobs would be easier to get, something I believe will happen.
    Cheers Des
PS I'm an Australian citizen, obviously as I'm living here and it's now my country, although I'm entitled to a British passport why would I want it???? unless I wanted two bob each way, just in case.

    Exterrrrminaaate them! Exterrrrminaaate them!

    You CAN'T be SERIOUS man

A lot of others come to mind, without the over 65's this site would be very sparse, Are you saying that most of us have no rights in protecting our childrens and grandchildrens future, we are the ones who have time to sit back and analyse things because in most instances they are too busy working or in some cases too lazy to get out of bed because 'whatever! don't disturb me man, you got no respect' A lot of us have served our country in a variety of ways over many many years we also have a right, nay a duty, to have a say in its future as well as the past.

So its back to the drawing board Lewis, or is that the sun lounger and sangria!

If it is the sun lounger and the sangria Lewis, make sure you have a sun hat on, and just a couple of sangrias , both are known to addle the brain !!. Most of us here have been round a long time, and have put a lot of thought into the vote on Brexit, indeed any vote, kt

Lewis that is the most STUPID Statement I have ever heard. What are you , some kinda nut????

It was the oldies who fought the bleddy Europeans to keep them out of our country. a Million died doing it.
I saw the Germans bomb my home, blew up my mother and as a youngster had to find her and dig her out.
and you want me to join up with the Europeans like a Quisling???
It was the older generation who worked for this Nation, exporting our goods World wide which we did as Seafaring men, to every country in the world. Now prevented from doing so by the Europeans.
I travel the world every year and all I ever see on every dockside all around the world. is HAMBURG SUD, HAPAG Lloyd, CMA CGM. MAERSK, MSC. and so on, NOT one British ship or container do I see. all European. Those gangsters have forced us off the Seas, closed down our Industries,
We had the largest MN in the world 58% of world shipping, since Europe took us over we have Nothing. They are like a bunch of blood sucking leeches who have sucked our lifes blood and destroyed Britain,
The berstereds could not defeat us by warfare so this was the most despicable act in history since the Trojan Horse.

The young people do not know what it was like before we went into that quagmire of Europe, it is all they ever know.

So only a Europhile, would stop us who know better, from voting.

Also Froggy France is one of the most despicable nations on earth. FACT !!

You have really made my day Lewis.

Brian , .... who would really like to see Europe used as a Nuclear Testing Ground.

What a load of nonsense , people over 65, have knowledge and experience that they young do not have.
Most young people's concern over the vote was that their travel to Europe may be curtailed.
