Jim as i said i never saw any trouble there, but yes the girls did ply there trade there more so in the Elm House not so much in Bootle arms. Matter of fact the last house i lived in before coming out here the women who lived next door to us was one of the girls who frequented the Elm House,a decent woman as a neibour but eh a girls got to make a quid some how + she had a couple of kids to keep. She did a top job of bringig them kids up, also she was a real good neibour. Cheers.

Re: Seaforth Docks.
Jim,
Your knowledge of older Liverpool Public Houses really boarders on the Encyclopaedical, have you ever considered writing a short history of the Liverpool Docklands Public Houses. It may never be a Best Seller in the terms a cash generator but I am sure it would sell to local people, ex seamen and Historian Researchers. Just a thought mate.

Re: Seaforth Docks.
John I only knew the dock road and the next road up pubs and also the north end of Liverpool,Bootle etc.I do Liverpool city centre a bit now and I will most probably do a few down there tomorrow and end up in Mathew Street.By the way John did you look through all the pictures from the article #7 I'm sure there is one there of Newsham General which will bring fond memories to you and your good lady wife Cora from her time spent there as a student nurse. It would be good to have another Liverpool meet up but I don't think that we would get the numbers now.
Regards.

Re: Seaforth Docks.
I don't think there is more than 5 pubs all along the dock road as far as dingle? its a shame the forest of ships masts all gone the thousands of Dockers on bikes the traffic and smells now its like a ghost town.sounds of the tugs guiding the ships in and out of the locks onto the highway that is the river seeing ships at anchor waiting for a berth dredgers working as hard as they could floating cranes manoeuvring around the docks. what days never to return.. jp

Re: Seaforth Docks.
JP the first pub from Seaforth to town now is the Atlantic, then the Bramley Moore (the long bar)and finally the A1 At Lloyds if it is still going,so just three this side of the Pier Head.

Re: Seaforth Docks.
Reading some letters from scousers living in oz and what they miss about home,it came up a few times they missed the pubs,I can tell them they are missing nothing because they have nearly all gone and those that are left are nothing like pubs used to be.Charlie Hannah and Louis TF would get a shock if they came back here, the other day I came from Liverpool the only pub from the tunnel to Marsh Lane was the Pitch Pine yes one pub out of how many that used to be there, especially along Scotty Road.On the other side of the road you have the Throstles Nest the next pub on that side heading to Bootle is the Merton.
Regards.

Re: Seaforth Docks.
Jim Surprising that, The Pitch Pine was the last one built in that area!

Re: Seaforth Docks.
Jim one of my favourite pubs on the dock road was opposite the Canada but cannot remember the name.
Is the Coronation and ODVA still there on Linacre Lane ?
