Re: Democracy
I like others on here do not support either of the main parties but just watch who performs best. More than likely if Labour get rid of the Gob Sh+te who is at present the Leader of the opposition I would more than likely vote for them for another trial period. What the Liberals have done is commit the ultimate sin that they preach about and got rid of the elected leader put in by the voters, they are not going to be easily pardoned for that. They may think by the never ending polls put out by the likes of Fairfax and his minions that they have succeeded, if that is the way then go back to the country and put in a legitimate leader. It is still just a job for the boys. They are all too keen to keep their jobs at any cost regardless. This is of course referring to Australian politics not the British Houses of Retirement. My old man always said the working man could not afford to vote for anything less than Labour. Those days are fastly drawing to a close as there seems to be very few genuine British working men left. Re: Democracy
John #131, just who or what are Labor now? I was until the mid 70's a loyal Labor man, not any more. Having my own business changed my thinking on so many issues. You are correct about the current opposition idiot, but they are stuck with him under the current system.
As to the UK opposition leader some say it is OK for him not to wear a tie or not to sing the anthem. But the fat she world leaders watch such men and come to a decision as to whether they will accept him or not. If he does not fit the 'club' standard he is cactus as far as they are concered.

#133... John perhaps the poor old sod has heard stories about the Greeks, and wants to be one of the boys, hence the lack of a tie, on the other hand may think it might attract someone to throttle him with it if he wore one. This story about him being too old however is beginning to worry me, as is only a boy to some of us especially Cappy. Cheers JS

Will the same apply to UK and all other members?

Taking benefits away from immigrants who fail to seek work in their new country is one of Camerons policy in his attempt to reduce migration from not only EU countries but from anywhere.
As far as I am aware the EU Parliament has told him that to do this is illegal and against EU law.
I say stuff your EU laws and regulations where the sun don't shine.

Re: Democracy
A national anthem is about the nation the clue is in the title. It is pride in one's country, not just the Head of State.
My father was torpedoed and held p.o.w. by the Vichy French in West Africa after weeks in a lifeboat. For many months my mother thought she was a widow, I do not need lessons in sacrifice or patriotism from Ivan.
The Queen has been forced to remain in power for so long because she and her royal advisers know the country will not accept King Charles and Queen Camilla.

#129, 'I see there was no comments about Corbyns choice of Shadow Chancellor. an IRA supporter.'
The silence is deafening on that point......!! Marian
I still have not heard of any comment on this man`s appointment. over 3,000 people , men, women and children killed and this Quisling supports them and Corbyn wants him in a British Government as a Chancellor.
How the hell can any intelligent person support that idea.?
I had my moments with those `people`, so I cannot go into it in detail.
