Think this is the first time I have ever disagreed with you John, if the man was an unknown individual, then you are possibly correct, but as the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition then he has a duty to show respect to the country he represents, and he does represent it, even as Leader of the Opposition as he will meet other world leaders whilst in that role. If he shows no respect for his own country why should others. Even his own party members have been vociferous in their disappointment in his attitude towards established protocol.

He is the leader of an opposition party which is probably going nowhere with his outlook Ivan. He is not known to the average Australian, I don't even know him. My dislike is more with the fifth columist who is more than likely also unaware of his past and making up a story about a person he also knows nothing about. I at the moment have a lot of angst against the press the way they deliberately destroyed an honest mans reputation out here. For me if the labour party get rid of their present leader, which leader who I believe by my own judgement, and not the press"s is unfit to lead a country, will probably vote labour after seeing how the other party misbehaved. I don't and never have voted for one particular party but make up my own mind by their actions whilst in power. I agree with your sentiments but to me is not up to an Australian so called journalist to make judgements on another person of another nationality on others say so. JS

The following is taken from the ROPNER Section of my book, SHIPPING COMPANY LOSSES OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR.

CRITON (Captain Gerald Dobeson). Formerly a Vichy French ship captured by the Armed Merchant cruiser HMS Cilicia on 9 May, 1941 and taken to Freetown. With a scratch crew of Distressed British Seamen (DBS), sailed from Freetown in Convoy SL.78 on 18 June, but, unable to maintain convoy speed, was returning to Freetown unescorted when intercepted by the Vichy French warships Air France IV and Edith Germaine. Sunk by the Air France IV on the 21st and the crew taken to Conakry after which they suffered the worst treatment meted out to British merchant seamen by the Vichy French, served the longest period of internment in French West Africa and didn’t arrive home until 15 January, 1943. Three died during internment and a fourth later died from an illness contracted during it. Although the French Government never apologized for the treatment of the internees, they made a reparations payment to the British Government. The payment, however, was not passed on to those involved. Ian Malcom.

    Many thanks for that Ian,
I have now sent SIX posts to Corbyn, each one was deleted.
I sent more than 20 posts to Ed Miliband all ignored,
What wonderful Socialists we have in Britain .
    They are a bleddy Disgrace.
Why will they Not explain as to where the money that was paid to them for the Widows, families and survivors
    went to. ??
What have they got to hide??

and all our so called Socialists will not join in the call for the Truth.
    Brian.

Brian as I said if you are that serious about getting a reply take your writing pad and envelopes with you this week to Fleetwood you will have plenty of time to put a letter together. These people have young researchers working for them I suppose after reading the first line or two, nothing todo with Jeremy delete.A letter is a different kettle of fish.Incidently a guy was on our local radio station the other day (I believe he is a tory)he said Corbyn was right not to sing the National Anthem at the ceremony as protocol states that dignitaries are to remain silent and it is only the general public that sing.We know Jeremy didn't know that but if that is true what an on goal that would be to the media if somebody was to bring it up.
    Regards.
