Re: Democracy
Hi Marian.
Terrific video, reminded me when I was on an old tramp going across to Canada, I think it would have been about half way through that clip that the mate called me off the forecastle lookout to the monkey island for safety reasons.
Cheers Des

Re: Democracy
Democracy is what you make it. Whilst we may consider UK and most of the west to be democratic there are nations we may consider to be undemocratic but not to the population of those nations. China is one such country which many believe is undemocratic yet most |Chinese I know are very satisfied with the system. For many countries just the right to vote is enough for the people to say they are in a democracy.

Re: Democracy
Just as I said in a previous post John. There is democracy and democracy, how democratic is it that a person who the people who elected knowingly as PM be de-elected by a party of a 9 persons majority in his own party. The same now has happened 3 times almost as in as many years. They may not realize it yet, but they have done themselves more self harm than I think they mistakenly believe. The people do not suffer fools lightly especially disloyal ones. Anyone who reads the newspapers and listens to and watches news reports must realize that since the day the last PM got in there has been a concerted attack on him to discredit him at every turn, his own party ran scared of the media, therefore the present set up to run the country are incapable as obviously listen to others. The whole lot would of collapsed like a bag of pooh if in office during the last war and had to listen to William Joyce ( Lord Haw Haw) Incompotents both sides of the house. Cheers JS

Re: Democracy
John, the media can destroy even the strongest man.
I see that UK will not be involve in the 'distribution' of refugees, UK is to take it's on share from existing UNHCR camps. Be intersting to see what EU has to say on this

Re: Democracy
John, my guess is the EU is delighted with the U.K. taking people from the camps. I assume the camps are made up with people that do not have the money to pay the scavengers and bottom feeders that take the ones to Europe, and in order to have money they would have to have an education, a profession or a skill, or at the very least a rich daddy. If my assumption is correct, the EU pick of the litter will adjust and be a tax payer faster than the unskilled.
