Re: British Hotel Lyttelton
t
was the mid sixties in Lyttleton. British Hotel three ships, A Port boat A star boat and a Federal boat all due to sail at the same time. and all the lads were in the British
with different ideas! the situation got quite heated, local constabulary were called, it was on for young and old.Now. the hotel is on a corner and on a steep hill. as fast as the bottom bar was cleared the boys "borrowed" a convienient window cleaners ladder propped ii up around the corner and proceed to climb the ladder into the upstairs window and then get back to the downstairs bar! thats when the coppers brought in the dogs. Gamechanger.Eventually we were all escorted to our ships and duly sailed ünder protest"!Those were the days!
