Re: Ukraine
Hi John
Two top Russian Generals killed by snipers in the Ukraine, I hope to God that Boris hasn't sent any of his SAS in there, or they will have very little time to evacuate London.

Re: Ukraine
At the risk of sounding obscene if that is the word, judging by the last time I was there , his retribution in English life’s would be about 5 in a hundred or 5%. Weighing up value of the results to the outlay might think it’s unaffordable . Unless of course he wants to bring Big Ben down after all the restoration , as a punishment. JS....

Re: Ukraine
An ex MI5 man tells on the net that this will only end when Putin understands he can go no further.
That is one amongst many opinions .
Germany refuses to stop buying gas from Russia saying if they do the country will stop, without it hey are cactus for sure.
USA assembly was sleepy Joe to impliment more oil from USA shale oil division, while at the same time it is reported many Russian soldiers are handing them selves over to Ukraine!!
Could last for weeks or maybe years who knows.

Re: Ukraine
Just in, news that Russia and Ukraine are to meet in Belarus tomorrow the see if they can find a way out of this war.
It has been speculated that Putin is concerned that continuation of the war will bring too much damage to the city of Kyiv which he is not in favor of.
Well, just watch this space!!

Re: Ukraine
Just me again but think that Putin wont give in until he may have to, but that is a long way off if it ever happens! The talks are to him just that TALK!
This War is to my mind going nowhere fast, and although there is a lot of Fighting, Rocket launching and whatever, the Ukranians are still holding fast so far, something i am sure is irking Putin no end! But what will he resort to ?? That is the dying question!
I as looking at the figures somewhere cannot recall exactly but if you looked at them and the Numbers of each thing like Men , Tanks Missiles,Ships, etc the Ukranians are so far behind in Numbers but yet still manage to hold on! How they are doing this is just marvellous! Can they continue against the Numbers???? I leave it there!

Re: Ukraine
#186. Belarus although a founder member of the UN in 1945 agreed an economic union with Russia in 1996. Has a population of 10,350,000. As said in other posts Russia is not alone in the world, and even Georgia signed a military pact with Russia in 1994. Unless my history book was written by Hans Christian Anderson. Let’s hope they can all come to some face saving answer suitable to all concerned. JS

Re: Ukraine
#190 In any naval hostilities in the Black Sea John , I think today’s thinking has advanced from the moment Of old types of naval power. They would be a sitting duck. Today there is no need to drop bombs on ships and hope for a strike . Small nuclear air bursts will take out a convoy of ships one air burst. The ice free port of Murmansk is where or was where, the master kept his dogs of war the nuclear submarine fleet. It was in 1962 close on 2000 . Germany during the war never had more than 600 and it was estimated never had more than 300 serviceable at one time. Even those figures may be exaggerated but were close to the figures bandied around at the time of the Cuban Crisis. Only an imbecile would start a nuclear holocast , but their are plenty of idiots in the world today. The thing is most of them have never seen a war either. JS
