Re: queens new years honours list
Capt. Bill ##### cant remember his name but he had words with me about the MNI probably on the private line. He was apparently a founder member of the MNI and admitted there was no exclusion to non seafarers today, Not the way as was foreseen by himself and other members, but membership today has very little restrictions as to who is a seafarer. If Bill is still alive and reading these comments he may like to agree or repudiate. Cheers JS I believe I said in some post and posted a copy on here of how I sent a letter to them for printing in their magazine about some seamen who should be recognized for performance of duties, this was to start and get them some recognizition by the media as no one was speaking up for them. They would not print as said it was sueable. So I sent to Numast who printed word for word, am still waiting to be sued. However it was the start of the real persons in the saga to receive acclaim. The same as the Memorial monument in Aberdeen, I have no doubt certain names would have been excluded if everyone had sat on their hands. JS

#46... is the Baldrick anything to do with Cappy, that is a slanderous statement to make, Cappy is very upset because he says he deserves top job or nothing. He"s probably away back to his homeland this weekend but on his return Beware. Hope you had a fruitful and normal new year, and didn't make any rash commitments for the next 12 months. Cheers JS

Sir Bryn Terfel says knighthood 'surreal' moment
Sir Bryn Terfel says being knighted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace was a "surreal' moment".
Born in Garndolbenmaen in Gwynedd, the award-winning bass baritone won the Lieder Prize at the 1990 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, the same year he made his debut with Welsh National Opera.
Sir Bryn had started singing at eisteddfod competitions from the age of four.
His career has taken him all over the world, while he also curated his own Faenol festival at home and has supported charities including Shelter Cymru and Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales.
He won Grammy Awards for his album Opera Arias in 1996 and his crossover CD Simple Gifts a decade later.

Re: queens new years honours list
I cannot understand this knighthood lark.
Some Welshman sings a few songs, makes himself very rich and they make him a Knight,
The last of the DamBusters, a 95 year old man who put his life on the line to help us beat the germans in WW2 gets Nothing even tho` over 600,000 people have signed a petition for him to be knighted. That is because our pollies do not want to offend the Krauts.
a knighthood is very cheap. I would refuse one if offered as too many show biz celebs and luvvies are getting one.
If you can kick a foot ball you get one, If you can run a bit faster you can get one , If you are a Tax dodging celeb you can get one and so on. How cheap is that???
Brian.
