Welcome aboard Terry. Sounds like you had a good cruise. Sunny in the 'Bay' never saw that before.
Have you ever seen me sober? You wouldn't like it so don't try mate[hic]

Den mate to see you sober would no doubt be something to look at in awe. But sober how would you produce those wonderful tab nabs the Chinese are using to shore up the wall? The run companies would be running at a loss just like this ship, but if we run out of fuel maybe we could run her on gas al Den?

Tab-Nabs, Tab-Nabs, What the hell are those? Must be some kind of Bi product from my rum issue. Come to think of it. What the hell is a rum issue. And were is that skiver Vernon?
I am almost reduced to drinking my supply of rum extract.
Off back to the fog locker.
Den.

Vernon mate, jumping ship and skiving off is not acceptable to this mighty ship. Poor Den slaving away all by him self with not even the sniff of a rum cork to keep him going! While you up in that Black place may I suggest you aquire, borrow, steal if you have to sufficient rum to keep Den going. Poor Alf still strapped tot he wheel screaming out for a tab nab and all he gets is crumbs. As for poor DEn, now sober, he has no idea what has happened to him as this is a totaly new venture for him.

Cripes!!!
OK
Before i go AWOL, i have given the little Black Fella some goog stores of Native Rum to keep our Den going! Hope that it gets there as from the Mountains its a heck of a long way down to the Ship haha!
He is also carrying quite a few Tab Nabs for poor Alf who by now must be almost skin and bone ! LOL!
Den mate hang in there the issue is on its way,i know its not easy being in the state of sobriety, but it wont be for too long !
Now you saty clear there John, you will have to go without untill futher notice!
Down to the Bilges with you for a few days ! And no skiving down there either!! haha!
Cheers

Kipling
There was I with nothing to do, no pans to scrub as Den And Terry hadn't cooked (can they?). No spuds to peel because Vernon has sold them to a load of Stevies in Sydney like I know some one else did. So there was I sitting picking me nose and flicking as you do when I chanced on a poem by my old mate Kipling, you know Rudyard. So I thought I would share it with youse all.
China-going P. & 0.'s
Pass Pau Amma's playground close,
And his Pusat Tasek lies
Near the track of most B.I.'s.
N.Y.K. and N.D.L.
Know Pau Amma's home as well
As the Fisher of the Sea knows
"Bens," M.M.'s and Rubattinos.
But (and this is rather queer)
A.T.L.'s can not come here;
0. and 0. and D.0.A.
Must go round another way.
Orient, Anchor, Bibby, Hall,
Never go that way at all.
U.C.S. would have a fit
If it found itself on it.
And if "Beavers" took their cargoes
To Penang instead of Lagos,
Or a fat Shaw-Savill bore
Passengers to Singapore,
Or a White Star were to try a
Little trip to Sourabaya,
Or a B.S.A. went on
Past Natal to Cheribon,
The great Mr. Lloyds would come
With a wire and drag them home!
Which just goes to show you what a smashing writer the man was, and still is. Mike

A great writer Mike but maybe he had experience of ships that had a cook, had some stores, had some crew who knew where they were going. He was not blessed with a 1949 Esso road map complete with tomato sauce stains to guide him. Who will write a poem about our great suip???????????????????????
