He made the best rabbit meal I have ever had.
Had to order the day before, as it needed to marinate.
Turns out it is their national dish, or so he told me.

I can sympathise with you eating cat. in different circumstanses to yours. I was working on a building
site in Sydney, dinner time in the shed I was as I often do reading the paper while sorting out my sandwiches, I opened what I thought was a tin of sardines and had just put my fork in when my mate starting laughing, 'What's up "I asked, he nodded at the tin, I looked at it, in my haste in the morning I had picked up a tin of cat food.

I grew up next to Birkenhead Docks and when we were Kids,to make some money we went on a Mickie (pidgeon) hunt. Those of you that have been to B/head Docks will remember Five huge Flour/Grain Warehouses there. So all the scrag-mickies(pidgeons) were grain fed and looked like plump partridge,and we knew all the nesting and roosting spots. We looked like a team of SAS 13yr olds as we sneaked around grabing,throttling and bagging these birds. Some of these birds went to our homes,but most of them went to Frankie Wong who had the local Chinese Cafe,and payed us a Tanner a bird (6d) These birds would be plucked,boiled and when half drunk Seamen with their Lady Friendscame to dine,and order Chicken Chow Mein and a bowl of curry, little did they know,but probably enjoyed it. The birds that went home with me were roasted lovely and we all had one or two each.Oh Happy Days.

My husband used to love his pilchard saarnies for work, it was an every day thing. One such day I made the mistake of putting cat food on them, they were both in a bowl in the fridge and looked the same. I never told him so they must have tasted the same. The shame of it haha.

The local chinese takeaway in Looe was prosecuted and closed down for killing sea gulls and passing them off as chicken, the cheap skates.

I entered a funeral on Merseyside a few weeks ago m8, I met an old neighbour i hadn't seen in years , He was carrying fishing gear i asked him bloody hell Ronny what you out to catch here at a creme . His reply i have hooked six rabbits on my fishing line. Thats me fed for the week. Regards Terry.

Was in a Chinese Restaurant in Liverpool in the late 60s with my wife. First time we had been in it. Whilst she was looking at the menu, I went to the gents. There was a window in there which overlooked the rear entrance of the restaurant and I heard voices coming from the yard. Being of a nosey nature I looked out. There was a queue of little lads there each carrying a ' mickey ' (pigeon) which some chinese bloke was examining, taking them off the lads and handing over money of some kind. One lad even had a mangey dog on the end of a length of string.

I was back in that restaurant like a rocket, grabbed my wife and dragged her out, telling her I did not feel like a Chinese after all. We ended up in the Crocodile instead. I never told her what I had seen, but we never went in a Chinese in Liverpool for some time, in fact, I dont think we have actually been in one since, tend to go to Engish or Italian eating houses.

There was a Chinese restaurant located in Lime Street named "Eurasia' (on the same row as the American Bar) which was closed down in the late 50s for substituting cat for chicken
