    Terry,

Last year I enquired on how to apply for the cold weather allowance and the first question I was ask was, "What Benifits are you on" I replied my wife and I are on OAP and was told "That doesnt count, what other benifits are you on" I replied "None" She replied, "Then your not entitled to it" I started to ask questions about the allowance and was told to 'Take it up with the Government' and she hung up.

Hi all, on the DWP site it states you get £25.00 for every time the temperature is Zero C or below for a period of 7 days. Fred.

With My BT pension + oap pension, my bum is out in the cold.
I get no benifits and thats that.
You may get it if your on pension credits.
    Good luck to you anyway.

Well I don't know about cold weather payments, but up here by Loch Lomond we had a major power cut power cut on 3rd January which lasted for 80 hours!! No heat, light, hot water nothing.
This was due to the severe storms we had on 2nd/ 3rd Jan. After 2 days we had to move out and go into Glasgow. When the power was eventually restored I was watching the news and it was all about the storm damage etc. A spokesman for Scottish Power was asked could customers claim compensation for loss of power to which he replied - Yes - providing the loss was for over 48 hours. Trying to find out how you go about claiming this was an art form in itself. I must have been on the phone for well over two hours alternating between Scottish Hydro, Scottish Gas, Scottish Power, Scottish and Southern Energy and anyone else you care to mention. I managed to pin somebody down and I did get an email to say that my claim was being investigated. Why these people make it so difficult for their customers is completely beyond me And they call this progress??
    Regards,
    John.

PS Just checked our post code re cold weather payments. Nil payment due.
