Found what I was looking for:
“It is a curious fact that in the late 1930s, my home town had one famous resident, indeed an infamous resident, one William Joyce – called ‘Lord Haw-Haw’.
“A committed fascist, his call sign from Berlin was ‘Germany calling, Germany calling’ except that he pronounced it ‘Jermainy’ in a plummy mock upper-class cadence.
Certain a current resident in a recent report at home is having a laugh: Qoute: “Furthermore, I believe he deserves a blue plaque (or should that be black?) with a swastika attached. “It could be a major boost to tourists viewing the sights in N....... Street,” Mr ..... suggests.

Political correctness hit a new low point here in Oz on January 26th, Australia day. An acedemic, better to call them an epidemic, has after some form of survey taken last year amongst 513 drunks, made the staement that any one who flies the national flag from their car on Australia day is a racist!!!!!
The talk back radio station from where she made the statement went into melt down.

Face the Facts
Duke in Florida
Hughie Green, did you know that he was an avid and very knowledgeable train enthusiast, especially steam trains.
He was often seen on the footplate of steam engines or later in the cabs of the diesels.
I actually met him as a young trainspotter on Lancaster railway station as he got off from riding in the cab of a Delta class diesel......not a lot of people know that!!!!!

I'd imagine that steam trains were the only ones in service when Hughie Green was around, could be wrong though.
Wasn't his radio show called "Double Your Money" or something like that?
Thanks for the info John.
