Locally we do use the term what a Daft Dill, nothing to do with flowers which were eaten with leeks, but now necked as it is not a bad pint, prefer Brains or Felinfoel, but times are tough.

Was a time where I felt the City was mine nearly, will tell all one day over a pint. LES CROUPIERS, Casino still the best and cheapest pint in Town Centre. Blue lamp / old bill club, Cabbies, spent my teens on the docks: now bay, former Tiger Bay and Bute Town.

Cardiff CID could fit you up faster than Burtons, Will remember later some classic names, Mike comes to mind had all the flower and burger concessions, he died yonks ago, was the main man, did many a new years and parties in his mansion. Julian Hodge who I cannot say anything in writing of made a mint, his building Hodge House, Housed the Bank of Wales. Some Cardiffians could put the Krays to shame. K

May seem to some like Little Britain, but the Cornish are amongst the true peoples of these Sceptre Isles:

No wonder Ireland was asked to be given back to the Irish by Sir Paul M. Scot's want independence, Wales will be revolting - joke: Honest / Banter ?

Some were disgusted by TV'S: Little Britain ? Take your pick, have a laugh or worry, be afraid, very afraid ?

Chris from Cornwall, I was in Penzance some years ago, a lot of local people were wearing T shirts with " grockels go home " on the front.
I was told this was a Cornish word for holiday maker.
Does not say much for tolerance or acceptance of others.

#81 I recall touring the west country in the 70's with my family and they do indeed refer to visitors as grockles. In neighbouring Devon they are referred to (in the same derogatory fashion) as 'emmets', which is a term for ants. During a conversation with a local, I suggested the two counties should get together and refer to all the sources of income they enjoy, as a combination of both terms- grockles + emmets= grommets.
