Hello Angus you were wondering about Tom Mackay yes he was AB on the STAC I shared a couple of watches with him he took over as "Bosun " when Davie Meikle had a fatal heartattack There was a photo of him somewhere on the web the old Ben Line site I think !!!!
however he was a great old salt and 1st class shipmate who helped me refresh things (splices and stuff) after my spell ashore and we were days making slings for arrival in HK ............ I did,nt do a double header just felt strange after the burial at sea
Yours Aye

Hi Bob.
Didn't sail with you, but I remember the good times at the Flemington Markets Vindi dinners.
I now live in Cooma after a four year stint back in NZ that was a disaster.
John Meirs is now living up your way Wyong I think.
Hope your keeping well.
Cheers Des Taff Jenkins.

Old crews...
I am researching one of my old family names - Stanforth- and came upon this 1911 Census return from Aberdeen. - thought you may be interested in the crew.
If anyone can identify which of the Ben Alder vessels this relates to, I would be pleased to hear from you. I thing from the shipping line list, it is the one referred to as Ben Alder (2) working from the dates of selling and scrapping the vessels with this name.
Where would a vessel of this size be fishing, and does anyone have a photo please?
