I always get mixed up , was it the camel with 2 humps or the Dromedary , one of them only has one. Poor old Goeballs recently mentioned in another post had none , Des spotted the difference similar to the illustrious PM of England at the time of another so called crisis in history. Cheers JS

Squirrel is tasty, bit like sweet chicken.
Shark meat sold here in fish shops and the good old Rock salmon in UK is Dog fish, close relative to the shark.
Then we have Witchery grubs in the Northern territory along with Goana and frilled neck lizard.
Until you have eaten here in Oz you do not know what you are missing, Roo meat is very good as well no fat or cholesterol.
Have had Kangaroo and crocodile here from Lidl, we used to get "King Klip" ? - sand shark or something going round the Cape, or at least that is what it said on menu. Had a sirloin steak in the Abadan Intercontinental in 68, defo was not beef; I got to wondering next day when a ragged Arab was quickly hustled out of the reception area, he was carrying a sack full of cats all squealing and fighting - hilarious.

I was there about four days, with 3 other apprentices, a mate and his wife (very nice woman, one of Brocklebank family) after a couple of days it was getting boring so someone told us there was a BP club about a mile down the road and they showed movies on that particular night, so off we went but the b-stards wouldnt let us in but as we were turned away a friendly member on his way in invited us to join him and after a bit of argy bargy we were allowed in but had to leave as soon as the movie finished, no access to any facilities allowed.

Part 2
I forgot to say earlier we were along side for Three weeks, the Llandaff, took her cargo to Ti this god for shaken Shell Refinery in the republic of Indonesia, under the control if Sukarno a dictator, who had the country under curfew, from 2200 to 0700 if you were caught you were arrested, the last bunch of taxis would appear at 2130 to get is all back to the ship, if the madam liked you you were able stay the night on the bamboo hut which doubled as a bar / brothel only happened to me once.
In daylight it was scary there was a tanker in half in the middle of the refinery, swinging by its bow on its anchor chain it was the San Flaviano , but I’m digressing , the main reason for my memories was some of us on the Catering staff got friendly with a local who took us to his home ...again a bamboo hut on the edge of the jungle, three of us took him up on his kind offer to share his food with his family, the food was cooking wrapped in banana type leaves and smelled delicious, eventually after a few beers, we were presented with this cooked meat on a leaf, after looking at each other I tried it, then made the biggest mistake, if you are enjoying your food, never ask what is was, was told by the local it was spring chicken, then he pointed to a tree with a monkey in it saying look spring chicken, I had to make a frantic dash into the jungle, and regurgitated ii all up, moral of the story if your enjoying the local food and I was..........don’t ask.

Re: Ee haw ee haw
Indeed we do Victoria.
Yes we sure have lots of them they are such good Animals too, what they did in the Deserts for many saved lives for sure!
There was a rumour (dont really know if it was true) but some say that in desperate situations Camels were killed to take water from their Stomach (They have three) tp drink to stay alive in the Hot Desert conditions. Also some say that the Water is stored in the Humps??
But whatever they were very hardy !

Crickets are another dish that is very tasty though can be a bit crunchy but what ever you eat makes you what you are so they say.
