Cappy, your financial business is your business, by the sounds of it you worked hard for what you got. Just remember there are no pockets in a shroud. What I have is my business and having a good accountant in the family I am well on in the ball game to ensure how my wealth is divided up with those who I wish to benefit when I am no longer around.
Cappy I only live abroad because my son and grand daughters do not live in the UK, certainly not dodging taxman or afraid of paying my fair share to the taxman either.

Re: council tax
funny thing with accountants , I was self employed when first retired , used KPMG at a huge discount via Lloyd s Private Banking , took the figures sent back for approval to an old friend a FCA and finance director , she presented them back to me with virtually all the 20% tax written off , sent it in , all OK , definatly a horses forcourses scenario

Re: council tax
We have several streets of terraced houses in Boltonistan, every house is registered as a mo sk, under a different name of a branch of a certain religion.
El Tabnab mo sk , El plum bag mo sk and so on,
So they do not pay council tax.
What a racket.
