Re: rail unions
The Pay rises of the minimum wages can increase unemployment. I am not against it But there is a liomit for some employers. as an example....................
If the hourly rate is increased by £1 that is an extra £40 per week per 40 hour week, per employee, If one ASDA Store as an example, employs 500 workers, as they are open 24 hours a day, that means the wage bill will be increased by an extra £20,000 a week,
SO Do we sack some employees, increasing the remaining workers work load or do we increase Prices to compensate. Some thing will have to be done as they could not sustain that. I know they have made many people Redundant since the last Pay increase.
It is a hard Balance to make.

Re: rail unions
Sorry chaps my post should've just been about the affect on the country in years to come through job losses. You know the train guard go's they have automatic doors the train door doesn't stop off for a pint on the way home the guard would've done thus putting money into the economy and giving another six people jobs in the pub. Many of you remember how the Liverpool dock road was swinging, lots of pubs doing the biz.and lots of small industries maritime related plus the cafe's of course employing lots of girls. The ships went, because of the box,the dockers went no ships,so everything around the dock road went, now like a ghost town and of course it will never come backThat is probably through one mans idea about a container.
Cappy did you like that one about Arthur Scargill.
Regards.

Re: rail unions
I certainly dont know the answer to the problem of employment, i am one of the lucky ones, born at a time when we didnt have to worry about work, pensions were available with that work. All i am sure of is people have to have work, able to feed their families, hold their heads up with pride, something we have all been able to do. Yes we had tough times, but if we dont find work for them, then the only option is benefits, kt

I read a Financial Paper, soon there will be no Money/ Cash, it will all be electronic, all transaction will be done by the cards, It will be a cashless society.
So if you give the grandchildren a couple of pounds to buy an ice cream you will have to get them to have a card machine round their necks to pay them.
or something like that, Even the Donkeys on Blackpool Beach have credit card machines on the saddles to pay for the ride.

Shaking in my boots, your constant dishing it out, results in reply. Also, why bring your daughter into anything ?
