Re: If you smoked PLAYER’S Cigarettes do you remember this story
Guess at some time most of us took a drag or two. My mother smoked those Embassy, loved them. I tried all manner of smokes, began with Players Weights but found they were not strong enough. WEnt onto Capstan full strength and from there down hill all the way. Chesterfields, Marcovich Black and White, Sobraine Black Russian then met her in doors and got stuck with Rothmans, all with bloody tips. Gave it away then.

Re: If you smoked PLAYER’S Cigarettes do you remember this story
Tobacconists here in the U.K. are virtually a long gone breed of shops.
The last time I saw a proper tobacconists was when we were touring in Dumfries and Galloway some years ago and in a small village came across a tobacconists that sold a huge range of cigarettes for such a small shop with many of the brands that I thought were no longer available. The pub in that village (somewhere near Loch Ken) served the best beer ever in Scotland and, again for such a small pub, had a massive range of whiskey on sale.
Was nissed in there every night for about 4 days.

Anti smoking legislation is a joke. Like you our supermarkets and other shops must have all smokes hidden behind closed shelves and the customer must ask for the brand they want and hope the person serving knows which locked door they are behind. But then we have TPG shops where all smokes are on view, visible to any one who wants to buy. apparently they are allowd to do this as they pay a higher licence fee to the gov.
