Re: If you smoked PLAYER’S Cigarettes do you remember this story
When the ice cream man came around on his three wheeler bike he would ring his bell and shout "Ice Cream".We used to shout all kinds of things before he shouted "Ice Cream" such as we would shout "what do you feed your mother on" to which he would shout "Ice Cream" which left a gang of kids laughing at him.Another one was what do you take to bed at night to which he would shout ice cream.I'm sure he was glad to get out of our street.

Re: If you smoked PLAYER’S Cigarettes do you remember this story
The last bond I bought on a British ship was in 1983 in Rotterdam, and the prices were not much above what they had been 20 years previously which was 38 shillings a thousand or 5 cartons. There were only 9 of us on board so went around and saw what anyone wanted and bought and handed out. Unfortuanetley the second engineer ordered 6 bottles of spirits also. Arriving Great Yarmouth instead of putting the unconsumed bottles back in the bond decided to keep out, he was caught by the rummagers, I also had tobacco over the odds and was also fined. So my name was in the black book for some time and could always expect a rummaging crew on board coming from the continent. JS

Re: If you smoked PLAYER’S Cigarettes do you remember this story
The Oz gov in an effort to reduce smoking has restricted the number of smokes you can bring in duty free to just 50 per person. Bt grog now at 2.5 litres perperson.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Jim, when we were kids we could buy a bag of brocken biscuits for a penny, so when passing a sayers or scots shop we would shout from the door,"got any brocken biscuits missus "if they said no not today , we would shout back" could you break us some .Joe.
