Default If you smoked PLAYER’S Cigarettes do you remember this story

    From John Wallace

One day an old Sailor was standing at the bottom of the lighthouse,

When all of a sudden he heard something counting 1.2.3.4

he looked around and could not see anyone so he started to run up the stairs,

Half way up he heard it again 1.2.3.4.

he looked around and still could not see anyone,

So he ran faster right up to the top and sat down to have a smoke,

As he took out his Player”s to have a smoke he heard it again 1.2.3.4.

Now who did the counting ?

As the old Sailor opened the packet it read

    “ It’s the Tobacco that count’s “

The bum boat men in Port Said preferred Players in trading for their shoddy Chinese made goods. Woodbines were barely acceptable. Although I say shoddy I still have a leather photo album which upon the front cover an Arab features riding a camel with a back ground of a pyramid; and it's still in good nick.

Being a Senior ervice man who swapped them for Chesterfield in Las Palmas I never had such problems in Port Said. But like you I have one of those photo albums.

    Hi Neil
I still have my camel leather photo album with the man riding it and a pyramid in the back, bought it off George Roby's bum boat in 1949.
    Cheers Des
