Bank Password.

The other day on here whilst posting I used a word that is also my password with my bank (Santander) a half screen warning popped up telling me i had just used my password and did I still wish to leave it in my message. What I was posting had nothing todo with my a/c or bank very strange.Do all banks give out this warning maybe someone would like to try it Santander customers have a try.

It's no wind up Don and there is nothing in my post that gives away my bank details.What I said is fact if you use on line banking just type your password on here (you dont have to send it anywhere) and see if you get the same warning as I did.

I February I had an email from my Bank (Turned out to be false)saying there were transactions on my account that where not within my usual permameters and to contact a the number supplied in the E mail.
I checked my account on line and found 3 transactions, which were not mine,for small amounts of money had gone through.
I contacted my bank NOT on the number given and was put through to the fraud department and explained what had happened. They were very good and told me that the amounts had in fact gone out of my account BUT their computer had picked them up and not paid them out to the persons involved but kept in a special account. He explained to me it was classed as a phissing method by the people who did it. What they would do if I had rang them up on the number provided they would have have gone through my security details in order to clarify some points and change my passwords. Then within seconds they would have cleaned out the account.
He told me that the main culprits where known to be Eastern Europeans and the success rate in catching them was very very low due to non cooperation from the countries invioved. My bank replaced the money back into my account within hours. A statement was sent to me via the post a few days later to sign and return. I would say if anyone has an email that doesnt look right then contact your bank by getting the number yourself and do it quickly. Check your account every day as well.

My bank has told me that they NEVER contact me by e mail, but I do get the occasional attempt from this low life ! But they prey on those of an older generation who are not fully with it on the internet. That said I am one of those, but I am suspicious by nature KT

Same goes for me Keith. I am with the Bank of Scotland and they also never contact you via email. If they ring you up they have a special procedure in place so you know it is the Bank calling and the phone call is genuine.

I never ever do online banking, not safe. also I never give my email address to anyone I do not know. certainly not to banks or anyother institution.
I have had emails from the Inland Revenue this last week, just deleted them unopened
, if the Tax people want me they know where I live but not my email.

With on-line banking Brian you can check your balance every day if you wish so you can keep your eye on it before it go's to far if you were being scammed and not have to wait a month before you know.
