Re: scottish politics
Regarding the upcoming referendum on Scotland's independence.
Done a very brief bit of browsing and as of 2012 here are some interesting figures(all widely available on the internet)
Total spending in Scotland was 53 billion and this included Pensions, Healthcare, Education, Defence and Welfare.
In the same year income for Scotland from North Sea oil and gas revenues amounted to some 21% of the total Scottish budget and this figure is expected to possibly decline in future years.
This means that taking North Sea Oil revenues out, the Scottish people will have to find some 79% of 53 billion pounds in taxation in order to maintain 2012 standards.
Now I know some people will say that once independent Scotland will have all its North Sea oil and gas revenues to itself but the figure of 21% quoted was what in 2012 these revenues contributed towards Scotland's income and as far as I can see is not a portion of all the U.K. Oil and Gas Revenues divided up into the regions but the direct amount of revenue that Scotland alone receives.
These are very basic figures for simple seamen and their ilk but has fish faced Salmond actually put numbers to his grand plans because from where I am standing, unless I am missing something, the 5 million Scots are going to have too find a hell of a lot of tax revenue to make up that missing 79%, roughly around 40 billion and that's a hell of a big figure (if my rudimentary maths skills are correct)

Re: scottish politics
No need to worry Salmond has a bottomless purse (in fact its the one that Brown owned), money is no object to him, through it around like confetti.

Re: scottish politics
Do not fear John because if Scotland does go independent they will be having Gordon Brown as their Prime Minister, what a future to look forward to because he will rob the people blind even though he wont be able to take Balls and Milliband with him unless he can find a a way to make them nominal scots.

I will say it again.
There is too many half truths going about.
Give me all the good facts and the bad ones then I will make up my mind.
These people who come up from london and tell me all the half truths that is all bad are just making More Scots thinking. Ah! they are giving us this and that now. Why Oh! why are they doing it now.and not before.
Better if they just zip the gob as it's making the Yes vote stronger
As Brocks Super Nicknamed ( Mikie Spallain) in Calcutta would say to us " never mind the bullshit just give me the facts"
Gone into hiding Now TTFN

To me they are.
If one side give half truths then the other gives half it doesn't make the truth.
In Maths it states 1/2 + 12 make one.
But not in this case.

Re: scottish politics
To my mind Ron they are sat like gamblers over a hand of cards , salmon thinks the government is bluffing , labour are shaking at the thought of losing all those seats . I have tried to work the truth out and as you said they are not telling mich of it . I do believe the government are not bluffing over Stirling and I do believe that Euro membership and NATO will not be automatic , in the light of that I think devolving the union may not be in the best interests of the Scottish people . I am also disturbed by Salmons involvement with Donald Trump over the golf course at Aberdeen
