Re: The Romancers
#55 JP as long as Cappy got past Lt. Commander he had it made. The 4/5 year period I worked for the MOD it was celebration day for anyone who made Commander and got his Brass hat. They could then calculate their rate of promotion, a lot never got that far. Cappy must have had rellies or friends to put a good word for him to reach the rank of Vice Admiral, much more exciting than a mere Rear Admiral, no doubt if he hadn't taken early retirement, when he got involved with Christine Keeler which was totally platonic he would of retired as Admiral of the Fleet and maybe first sea lord. Such is life. Cheers John S.

#51. You are getting Eiffon mixed up Brian , he means master bakers. The same as master builders, master chefs, and no doubt master stewards who are very good at their job. JS

Re: The Romancers
Going back to B.A. did anyone see that photograph going the rounds in the late 50s of Peron, Gina Lollobrigidia and a couple of other VIPs walking down Corrientes arm in arm all naked. Story was that they had all been wearing nylon clothes and they had a camera that could see through. Everyone believed as well. The photos must have been dubbed, but were considered illegal. JS

Re: The Romancers
I really meant more attractive than Christine, and younger. I think she was only about 19 at the time.
.
I think Hooker is an American title, for a lady of fortune, In the Uk a Hooker is a Rugby player so we can say hooker without it being censured.
I am not sure if Christine and Mandy played Rugby or not but I think they had a few scrums and were good players.
Cheers
Brian
