"Despite the assurances made in the November declaration, Palestine’s subsequent history was to show that the wishes of the vast majority of the indigenous people of Palestine counted for little. Their land had been promised to another people by a foreign Government, which, at that time, held no sovereign rights over Palestine. Citing these factors, several authorities have asserted that the Balfour Declaration had no binding or legal effect beyond being a statement of the intentions of one Government"

I think the problem for Israel and Palestine started after the war, when Israel was inundated by European Jews many from the Camps, anyone who remembered what the Jewish Stern Gang, and other gangs started after arriving in Palestinian territory should know that all this was the start of the problem we have there today.

The irony is that the winning Communist regime (of which no critical dispositions are allowed in Vietnam) has instituted, to a large degree, the market system, which was what the USA et al were defending!

Terrorists of all kinds have been around as long as man has walked this planet and I suggest that will not change.
Various reasons for their attacks on the other side.
Greed, need for total control, to save their nation, all manner of reasons.

Those who commit the terror believe they are in the right, but so many in more recent times going back to before WW 2 have been of a religious nature.

The iRA were one, as has been others such as HMAS ISIS and others.

Driven by religious belief pumped out by the 'priests' of these different types.

As is the current situation a need to regain what was taken from them.

Those of us of reasonable intelligence know that some of the claims that drive some to commit terroir, such as a promise of 72 Virgins, is ridiculous in the extreme.
But when you are brain washed from an early age you grow with that as a truth.

Heer in Melbourne just about every Sunday now we have marchers all demanding the safety of Palestine.
Does that mean they wish to see the destruction of Israel, yes some will; say that.

So even pacifists as these claim to be are out there in one form or another support one side or the other.
With such a support why would HAMAS or any other terror group want to give up?

"The Zionist strategy of expelling Palestinians from their land was a slow and deliberate process. According to Israeli historian Ilan Pappe, Zionist leaders and military commanders met regularly from March 1947 to March 1948, when they finalised plans to ethnically cleanse Palestine."

This is factual, not an opinion, written by an Israeli historian which should give it credibility.
Just a simple question, not to include it in the rest of the discussion of allocating blame but on this particular event. Does this not give the critics of the people of Gaza and the West Bank pause for thought ?

Entirely agree Douglas. We all know that Israel is not fighting innocent Palestinian civilians, and I've never heard anyone express any hatred for them, only the murdering Hamas fighters and their supporters, That hide behind their own people and use them as shields.
What Israel are doing is fighting a war of survival, and as in most wars, there are two sides. If one side is represented by the likes of the Manchester bombers, or any other murdering movements, then I support the other. It's not a war about national principles, it's a religious war, being waged by religious fanatics, who's principles are dictated by their religion. I haven't heard of any Islamic nation supplying arms to Israel, but they all seem to be supplying arms to Hamas. We've all seen videos of constant streams of rockets being fired at Israel from Gaza and surrounding areas, I Know which side I want to win, because we'll be next if they don't.

good afternoon, your reaction to my piece about the people known as rastas who live their lives in homage to their king haile salassie and their homeland ethiopia is about right for any intelligent human being raised and educated here in the west, with a smatter of knowledge about geography and history. Sadly we live in a dystopian world where we are being told that everything we thought we had invented had indeed been invented by the third world inhabitants, why only two weeks ago archeologists where said to found a amazing discovery in east africa of wooden stumps sharpened to a point , this imformation can be found on all the left leaning establishments billboards and tv and radio channels if one wishes to expand their knowledge further, But the real truth is that we are being social engineered for the greater future of mankind where we as a people will not be in charge and where meritocracy will not be accepted unless you are black lesbian queer with a parrot on your shoulder.
therefore as you can most likely guess by now what i wrote was just a spoof, but those people i mentioned believe it.

good afternoon, Your dread of what a labour goverment will do regarding the palestinians is well founded, as i believe the deal to move these people to europe and america has been in full swing for some months, The four hundred million dollars to build a pier in gaza to land supplies is a front for the removal of the palestinians or whats left of them and disperse them amongst those i have listed above, then the gas and oil refinery can be built
without the necessary land problems of who owns what, this deal i believe was ironed out by the UN whom are in constant contact with hamas and they are even seen ferrying the hamas fighters fully armed to various areas, once more the bleeding hearts are screaming for the babies lives whilst politics and big businesses will put these terrorists on the streets of the uk and europe and america ,
