Today Iran is the old Babylon Douglas. How many know that simple fact.? Maybe the Holy men are frightened of the country going back to a new head of state and losing their job. JS

hi john sabourn #151
good morning i believe you are correct in your imformation regarding the biblical home of babylon But in the interest of racial harmony and diversirty
the jamaican rastaman believe that babylon is a white colonial system and is therefore evil, And therefore that one day they will be freed from this oppression and return to the true babylon which they believe to be the promised land of ethiopia and where the true king Haile Selassie lived and died.
just a thought.

Re: Death of Innocence.
Two factors to bear in mind in all of this:
1) the Israeli state was born through terrorist action, vis the King David Hotel bombing and more in the late 1940s.
2) the still-continuing land grabs of Palestinian territory for settlements in the West Bank, to which the west largely turned a blind eye.
Most people have no choice but to accept the government they have. In a democracy you can vote against one you dislike but in an autocracy? Many of us I believe would try to go about our everyday family business and keep our heads down. You can't blame the common citizens of Gaza for doing that. Rock and a hard place comes to mind.

Re: Death of Innocence.
Well William you should know being a journalist and only having to read your own paper for confirmation.?
Would you believe I even had visions of joining the Palestine Police when I was 12 in 1949 , but had a change of heart and changed the dream to becoming a boy seaman in the RN. As fate would have it I finished up in the merchant service with a brief 4 years having 2 employers one the MOD and the other the shipowner. I have at various times had contact over the years with journalists both good and bad, hope you are one of the good ones and writes the truth. Cheers good to see you posting. JS

Re: Death of Innocence.
hi john sabourn #155
good morning, As this post in parts dwells on biblical tones i will try not to answer with a facetious reply, but although its not been proven but some nay plenty of people may say that the rastas have tried to replicate the gardens by growing their hair out to resemble the very plants originally found in the gardens of babylon and which they smoke,
i leave the assumption and conjecture to the reader to make their own minds up if true or not.

Re: Death of Innocence.
So if you meet a Rasta whose hair appears to be on fire , and you say hey Rasta your hairs on fire, he is very likely to reply that’s all right mate I’m just smoking a joint. Thanks for that may save having to recharge a fire extinguisher some time. Cheers JS
