Re: Iran
One cannot blame the Iranians or anybody else that lives in a police state. When the Shah was in, it was God save the Shah, cheer and wave the flag, and it was Allah Akbar (God is Great). The day this current regime is ousted, the new mob will be cheered in by millions. You can't blame them. It's a case of "Do or Die." Expats like me, then in Iran, all had a code name for the Shah and Shehrbano (Sp.?) The yanks and Brits called them Fred and Tilly as in "There's a parade today on 5th Avenue for Fred and Tilly, so it's closed, no driving." The Germans called them Karl-Heinze and Ingred.
If You used the Shah, say in a humorous sentence, and you laughed and somebody reported you, You would be on the next plane out of the country ending up in any city it happened to be going to.
