I was of the understanding that Her Maj said there would be no need for anew one.

But is it the correct thing to build in the current situation.
A Royal navy ship of some description would be of better use.

The days of business being done on such ships, and not sure if any was ever conducted on her, is long past now.

£200 million for a new yacht, £900,000 for a paint job on a plane , £200,000 for wall paper & paint and let's not forget the £20 billion + for the bridge/tunnel and the magic roundabout under the IOM.

Ah! ye wee wicked little man, yee well know the tunnel wasn't for his personal use, in fact he only considered building it so yerself could drive back all the way to France cos yer like it so much. If yer going to sh*tstir make sure everyone knows the true facts

£200,000 for wall paper & paint? Try DIY and B and Q.

Ivan me s-it stir , how very dare you, but you have me banged to rights about the tunnel. It would be handy for when the North Channel gets a bit lumpy, the wife is not great on the boats when mother nature decides give the seas a bit of a stir. I can pop across and see me brother in bonnie Scotland then drive down to Wirral, using the Mersey tunnel (built by the navvies) stop with friends for a day or two then get the train and under the channel and see my lad in Bordeaux.

There is, however, one crucial flaw: I hear that it does not have the backing of the Queen.

Update: ‘Her Majesty said the last thing she wanted was for the Royal Family to be seen as “angling” for something that detractors could claim was just another royal bauble. She was effectively saying she did not want the hassle.’

It must be something in the water, Wee Burney wants to build a tunnel or bridge from Gourock to Dunoon, and a tunnel from Largs to Cumbre.
Orkeny Islands want interconnecting tunnels between the islands.

Well how about getting the Irish lads back on the job. It could be a win win. The local economy would benefit as the navvies of old were supposed to like and enjoy a few jars after a hard days work. They are also well up to date on the use of explosives if the odd bit of blasting is required.

Lewis that is a win win situation for the Scots and Irish with an own goal for the English as they will be the ones paying for it.
