Re: Three queens on the mersey.
They are a familiar sight here in Southampton. Glad you got to see them on Merseyside.

If you thought that Vernon you should have tried P&O. The bloody ships were down by the head with them.
Favourite ships with them were the Canberra and Oriana as all the crew were in two berth cabins, commonly known as married quarters!

Vernon they were evenly distributed amongst all the liners, just that UCL got more than it's fair share.

Yes I do remember them mincing up and down the high street back in the 60's.

I was with P&O for a number of years, we were happy that the queens were on the ships, it left more of the female passengers for us,

But on the deck on a very dark night one had to take care, some of those 'ladies' could be a bit viscious.

Re: Three queens on the mersey.
Sorry to be getting off the queens..... who were aboard. From my point of view & maybe a cry in the wilderness but these vessels do not look particularly lovely as far as 'ships' are concerned, more like large apartment or office buildings on a hull, an abomination to the eye, ugly, unattractive nothing appealing at all, deplorable. There does not seem to be an 'attractive' passenger liner left at sea, these modern ones are re-pungent to the term nautical-marine architecture. Old Mr. Cunard would just yawn then say, "thank God I am gone let the Yanks have em." A blot on the horizon.
