as a young Peggy 16 i met lots of lads but to single one out the more you think the more you can't really come up with one some bad ones yes but to name one i don't think it can be done? if you work as a team you know you have each others lives in your hands and trust the man next to you some characters yes loads of stories.but when you think of one mate you always think of another so nick this is a hard one?JP
Mine would be an AB, "Spud Murphy" on the "Oronsay" 1963 onwards, taught me a lot about growing up from a 16 year old deck boy through to AB, I came from a childrens home, ( my father ran off of with another women ) so no father figure as such. I will never forget him he was a really nice bloke and looked after me a lot.

like graham i think its the first impression of the first crew i think after that you and them are all mates? but if there is one it would be an AB called SAM GRAHAM i think he was a gloucester /Cornish man always a smile a always willing to show you how never seen him lose the head not once.but he again was just one of many.JP
First impressions can amke a lot of difference at the begining of your career. The first I met who helped mw enormously was the assistant Head waiter Tony Talavera. So much patience and understanding, he put me on the right track and but for him I may never have folowed in the hospitality industry, an industry that saw me never a day out of work.

Best bit of advice that I got. Do not go to Dock St pool until your tan has faded.
