Hi John.
Your mention of Beacham's powder, reminded me of when we lived in NZ and everyone seemed to take; I think it was called Becks powder, in a paper the size of a cigarette paper it was used for everything, until they discovered it was causing huge numbers of people getting kidney cancer.

'Take a Bex and have a lie down' was the catch phrase.
But so many of the pills and powders because of the base material in them, not quite cement but close, can cause Kidney stones if you take enough of them.
