Last night on out TV we had the chief medical officer of Oz giving an update.
One of only three I trust to tell it as it is, the other his deputy and then the past chief medical officer who began the first drive through testing station for the virus.

Figures he gave were this.

1,711 positive cases, this is 1.2% of the total number of tests done.
Highest testing per capita across the globe.
Only 7 deaths and only 22 under 14 with mild symptoms.
No pregnant ladies with it.
This with a population of about 2505 million.
90 million masks to be delivered in the next two weeks along with 1 million testing kits.

Greater majority of those who tested positive had come back from overseas or had been in contact with some one who had.

But as he said, the more you test the more you find with it.

As to the media, most have lost the plot on this one with some of the rubbish they publish, but not just lost the plot maybe never read the script.


Just back from GP had the Flu shot for this year.
He tells me that of the 7 deaths 6 had very severe C.O.P.D. and the other cronic heart conditions.

If people think they can do what they want , then they should see what a lot of us saw in different parts of the world in the past. In the riots in London a few years ago if it hadnt been quelled the answer would be for a government to declare martial law, the first thing to follow that is curfews. This is the very last resort , and would not be appreciated I am sure. It is not a hard thing to do, just to follow a very lenient at the moment set of rules. JS

John they are buggered for sure here as they are talking about reducing the numbers in the prisons because of the virus. They are reducing the amount of sittings in courts. So logic will dictate that they are not going to start arresting people because the police stations could not take the strain. So what is going to be the punishment that they are going to use? As we all know when rearing kids? If you chastise a child then you had better be prepared to follow it through otherwise you will loose respect from that child.

The obvious question will shortly be , if not already done so by those in charge, is it a man made virus. As such is prohibited by the Geneva convention , which with today’s morals very few take heed of. The best thing the populace can do is sit back and let the case develop , as was the answer to a very often asked question by a BOT examiner when you had crossing fishing vessels ahead, although the wording was slightly different . To me the current situation proves action on near al threats should be taken early, those that deny everything, should
embrace that it is better to take such early actions and the reasons for this be proved wrong, it is better to prevent than to cure. Especially, when the end result otherwise could be loss of life.

Quarantine or isolation has always been the answer to communable diseases . It is self evident . Most people accept that , it may be disagreeable at the moment.. A couple of hundred years ago they had to carry a bell to warn people away. Leprosy at one time was a curse of the community, medical science found a quick and easy cure for such, so easy a cure that people must have kicked themselves. The same will happen with this virus , for every poison there is an antidote , if there isn’t mans ingenuity will find one. Panic at the moment is the worse danger on the cards. JS

My GP said to ring her after the 2nd week in April for the flu shot as it was advised to not have it too early as then you might need 2 for the season. Probably the truth is simply they just don't have any right now.

You are right there Victoria, most years we get a call from GP about mid to late April, but gov directive made him call us in earlier this year.

The comment as made by a few that this is all the work of climate change.
As one medical scientist said, those people will blame just about any thing on that.
