Re: Global Warming
When we first came down to Cooma the first winter I nearly died of the cold,[ I hate it] gradually have got used to it, this year I haven't even felt cold, yesterday it was 3 last nigh minus 6, so if you look at the TV and see those people in Europe splashing about in the fountains trying to cool off it's because they are not used to the heat, then at night on TV they are told that the earthy is warming up they will believe it.
Now I am not a denier of changing weather patterns but with the number of people that now occupy the earth we should expect some change
They all want cars , fridges etc etc.

Re: Global Warming
Des, in 1980 global population was about 4 billion, it is now close to 8 with similar increase in live stock to feed them all.
All mammals produce Co2 and Methane so the increase must have some effect.
We have been told that water levels are rising, where?
I have been going to the same costal areas for the last 40 years, I can assure you high tide levels are no different.
How much of the argument is political?

Re: Global Warming
I have a house right on the quayside at Fleetwood, ten feet from the edge, The tide comes in on time and tises in line with the Tide Tables. Beren there for 20 years, Never any increase.
a one metre rise, would need 37,000,000,000,000 cubic metres of water.
Where will that come from??

Re: Global Warming
Well the old saying "I'm alright Jack" might apply to me as Cooma is 2,500 feet above sea level.

Re: Global Warming
Hi John.
So far massive snow falls in the Alps but we got not a flake, though it brought around one and a half million people through Cooma, it keeps the town going.

Re: Global Warming
Looking at an article put up by another member on U Tube there was another article about climate change.
A Group of scientists are saying that there is no man made climate change and that it is all from cyclical weather patterns.
I am of the opinion they are right, look back through history and you will find similar conditions have occurred many times before.
Very little being said here at present about it, but the weather as Vernon said is cold just now, we have winter!!!
Added to which the drought here in Victoria has broken.
