Re: spying
This sounds very much like the old trick.
You are not doing so well in the polls, things are not going too well for you, then you need a distraction.
So up comes a story of some outrageous incident or other which the persons concerned deny to the utmost.
But mud sticks and often enough to turn a few away from them.
The sometimes one very part is found to be the truth, then the lowest of the low, the media, make a meal out of it.
I have read that there is one CCTV camera for every 20 people in UK. Sorry Cappy you will no longer be able to hide under the bed.

Re: spying
As I up a post the UK has 5.6 million more of these than France who only 66,000 I think the figures are. I would imagine up to a few years ago probably London was the only city in the UK that had more CCTV cameras than Belfast for obvious reasons.
No problem with cameras just as long as they are used for the correct purpose and not to be another form of stealth tax.

Re: spying
Gulliver ... The door at number 10 can only be opened from the inside and doesn’t even have a keyhole on the outside. As a result someone is always stationed on the inside to open the door for visitors who are captured on cameras, which can’t be too canidid on occasions judging by some of the visitors. There is incidentally a back entrance for staff which does have a key and can be opened from the outside. This is not me giving away secrets of state, as an aid to any would be burglar or others with evil intent, as was recently published in one of your newspapers. Maybe they don’t like the present occupants. Very loyal are the media. Cheers JWS
