Re: missing sub
What I fail to understand is if there are snorkel depth and they have a problem I would have thought that common sense would have said surface until the problem is corrected . At least on the surface they could run on diesel and disconnect the batteries . I don't suppose whatever find out the true happenings and I think after this time even the Glimmer of Hope must be gone

Re: missing sub
What a shame and such a hard decision for the Navy there.
It must take the Hearts out of many,to say the least but I suppose that after such a length of time there is little more that could be done!
God rest their Souls and our only hope is that it was quick!
A terrible way to go.
My Sincere Condolences to all the Families no matter where!
RIP Dear souls "Courageous Men and Women"

Re: missing sub
listening to a BBC World Service reporter in Argentina this morning , the in country opinion is the Argentinian military have badly mishandled this , and changes at the top will be inevitable , to lose a crew is heartbreaking , to lose a crew because the top brass failed is beyond words

Re: missing sub
The Argentine Government is requesting the help of the German Government with a view to investigate two German companies that supplied the 946 batteries to the sub whilst refitting.
The claims are that the batteries were inferior and that the German companies bribed Argentinian Officials.
The Government of Argentina claim that the allegations first surfaced under the previous Government, but we're hushed up.

Re: missing sub
If those allegations turned out to be true and without actually getting the Old batteries back and looking at them it's going to be hard to tell then that is my major fundamental problem with bribery and corruption once you start it you'll never get the right job done ever I have seen it in shipping companies when you've been told to sign off a job regardless and you know it hasn't been perfect you suddenly wonder who's taking a brown envelope me I was always a damned rebel
