Re: Service
The future of the monarchy is in the hands of the royal family and the British public. It can only remain while it has the backing and support of the majority of British subjects.
The family lost this support over the way they handled the death of Diana , refusing to break off their annual holiday in Scotland and not meeting the thousands of people laying tributes outside the gates of Buckingham Palace.
The family rode out this storm and their popularity is now very high , boosted by the Queen and Princes William and Harry. To maintain this popularity and support it would be sensible for Charles , who is not popular because of his past , to forego his ambitions to be King and stand aside for his son William .

Dianne didn't do too bad, she didn't die wondering,
she did have a Long list of lovers. Rugby player, Army chap, Black man , Arab. and so on.
So if she was that good she could have been more selective and had just the one.
The family stayed in Scotland for a few days on the advice of their advisors.

Re: Service
Hi shipmates,After brexit , will we have a U.K or will the future king or queen only rule England? or Wales maybe? Not scotland or Ireland as this will take many years to sort out? cost millions in legal fees, and many new laws have to be made, for the new monarch this will cost more than 72 pence per person for the next maybe 20years.

Re: Service
I wonder at her state of mind. How many people would like to disclose their marriage failure to the world. Looking for sympathy or just pure devilry? She was either very naive or very cunning. There was something on the news the other morning which I just caught the end of, where the media were speculating that some private correspondence between the Queen and either the Governor General or Premier was put out as maybe something going on. This many years ago. Listened to the following news to see if was repeated, it wasn't, so was probably the media putting a toe in the water to test the temperature of the people. The media is very manipulative and scheming and it is in their own interest to cause furore wherever they can. One only has to look at the average politician to see how they court the press as fear them as see their downfall in politics will be due to them. They are all a bunch of wimps to be scared of the giutter press. JWS

Re: Service
John, the bit you speak of is reported to be a memorandum between the Oz Gov Gen at the time of the Whitlam sacking in 1975, and the Queen. There are reports it will be given to the media to show the world, but memorandums of this nature are not normally shown in such a manner.
As to the future of the monarchy, here in Oz if William took over rather than Charles iot would be a winner. I also think the UK people would prefer that, Charles is a bit too stuffy for most.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
