Re: Service
Hi shipmates, British tradition is fast becoming a thing of the past? soon we will be like the U.S.A after our Queen has gone who will replace her? chaz and milly { U.S.A. names } or one of Diana s boys? The time has come for the hangers on to sling they hook. the tax payer needs a break.

Do not worry about them
I will pay next years fee for the Queen for you, it is only 62p per person per year, out of my Tax Paid pension.

Re: Service
The Crown lands are just that owned by the Crown so if we become a republic the Queen and her family the good ones the indifferent and the hangers on will get more money coming in from crown property that they own as the royal family my second point is would you really want president Blair or president Brown or for those amongst you that found the dear lady repugnant president Thatcher . They are politically neutral that's the best way for a president to be the system has worked for over a thousand years let's just leave it alone and stop finding something to whinge about

Re: Service
Think of all the cost if the Royal Family were made defunct. Coming out of Europe would appear as a picnic. This for those using their 72 pence a year annual subscription as an excuse. The whole constitution would have to be changed in all parts of the world. The Crown as an emblem would have to be removed everywhere including service uniforms and livery. this only for starters. So for those who think they are being short changed think again. The next civil war in the UK maybe the roundheads may not be so lucky. The one thing for sure the old British Subjects have much respect and appreciate the Royal family and all the charity work they do. It may be fashionable today to decry them, would be better to accept them as part of our history rather than the likes of other countries who have nothing such as we have as a figure head. JWS PS if one could get back all those lost in two world wars and asked them why they fought, your answer would probably be for King and Country, not for President or PM and country. I wouldn't be in any hurry to join the military and make obligations to a President whose claim to fame was that he probably cheated at the Ballot Box, that is if there was one. Get real the UK has a system at present the envy of the world and this is mainly due to the Royal Family. Get rid of them !!! and find out the hard way. JWS

Re: Service
In reply #86, mate what he has now announced is a Plebisite on the matter of do you want a republic.
a plebisite, unlike a referendum, is not binding so if the reply is no he does not have to act on it.
One of the majorn problems for us if we do become one is the fact we will then havea fourth layer of gov over our 24 million. Some world record I think.
As to Diana, where ever the media are involved I take most of it with a grain of salt, they will do anything to shock or sell copy, even lie!!!!!

Happy daze John in Oz.

Hi shipmates Hi captain kong, Thank you for your kind offer, I have nothing against our wonderful Queen? it is the ones' after her job, that I dont want to pay for Chaz and Milly and all the others except prince Andrew {NO way} would he be king, his private life is very dodgy.

Re: Service
so Louis , you don't want the Prince of Wales to be King of Britain , I thought a Welsh take-over might appeal to you
