Re: 'Stupid Trump'
I overheard two chaps earlier chatting about the situation, I could not eaves drop to much, they did mention impeachment may occur.
Just wonder if you may know more, nothing on that seems to have filtered through this way, know little of impeachment anyway.
Thanks Keith.

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
Keith,
An impeachable offence is described in our Constitution: Article 11 section 3 "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high-crimes and misdemeanors."
First a president would have to be found guilty by the legislation, a trial by congress and the senate.
Any illegal act would be tough to prove after all "high-crimes and misdemeanors" do not cover sexual acts in the oval office (or is that orifice?) by President Clinton and Monica.
President Nixon resigned rather than face impeachment.

#85.... Vic I see no news about this petition out here on the media. Do you think they are prejudiced in some way. Probably trying to do what they accuse others of doing. Tell you what they think you should know. Cheers JS

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
The British parliament will hold a debate on calls to cancel Donald Trump’s state visit, due to be hosted by the Queen this year, after 1.6 million people signed a petition in support of scrapping or downgrading the invitation.
The debate will be held in Westminster Hall on 20 February and will also consider a rival petition in support of the US president’s visit, which has 114,000 signatures.

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
Really is immaterial after the petitions mentioned both reach 100,000, then they are read.
Someone would have to go back to the Queen if things went Awry.
Trumps visit is on lest HRH rules different.

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
Our PM out here has made a statement that he used 1.7 million of his own money during the last election he called. It barely got him over the line. I wonder sometimes about the way these peoples minds work. Maybe he thought it was a good time to come out with this info. in competition with Trump, who I believe paid most of his own way, and was not reliant of taking sponsorship money, and having to repay by favours at a later date. I think I saw an article somewhere on how much Hilary"s costs were way above what Trump forked out. Seems it all depends how much money you throw out to get anywhere in politics. The media must be the biggest deterrent if they want to be, Trump is doing what anyone should do and give them 2 fingers. JS

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
Hi John.
Money is the root of all evil, if it takes money to get elected and money counts while in office then democracy has gone out the door, on saying that, ever since the Rum Corps in NSW the govt here has been corrupt, and that is all parties who have been in office. Australia has the most corrupt Govt's both State and Federal in the world, and that includes African countries . The raw materials of this country has not been used to improve the people's lot just the elite's.
Cheers Des

Re: 'Stupid Trump'
Des, anyone with the slightest knowledge of economic geography would know that Australia is one of the richest countries in the world. It has Gold, Silver, most of the ores, Uranium, farming produce in the way of cattle, sugar, Gold Frankinscence and Myrhh so to speak. Has never been industrialised with the likes of steelworks etc to take advantage of. Politicians appear to want to sit on their bums and sell all its attributes to foreign investors and to make it even worse to use foreign labour with different excuses. Until you get people in these seats of power with the Australian peoples good in mind and not their own, nothing is going to change. Also has vast reserves of oil yet to go into. JS
