I believe , and it is too far back for me , that Walport provided films for ships from the mid 1950s with a leased projector all in a 16mm format . I think the box had four full length two reel movies in it , and there was often a safety film spliced onto the front . British & Commonwealth certainly had them , and so did Gulf Oil , We used to swap them with the boxes on other ships to keep them up to date . Walport still exist and still do training films today

First time I ever saw films on ships was in the 70s on ESSO VLCCs, before that telling yarns and crib.
