    might be on my own on this one but the old films i can watch over and over again my favourite is the cruel sea with jack hawkings great sea film sink the bismark and robert knewton inblackbeard and tresure island best pirate ever bulging eyes and the classic ha are jim lad the old black and white films ican watch again and again must be gettig old but i enjoy them

    Some of the old Films were the best,and like you I also like the Cruel Sea !
    There are of course many more but to many to mention!
    Casablanca is one of my all time greats,have watched it so many times,never tire of it!
    Another good one was "On the Waterfront"
    "The Man with the Golden Arm"
    "Sunset Boulevard"
    'The Third Man"
    'Maltese Falcon"

    Could go on but!!

    #2 Doc, "The Third man I agree, especially the musical score My favourite though stars Spencer Tracy named Emanuel? in the film as a seaman looking after a "poor little rich boy". Brings a tear to a glass eye. Unfortunately cannot remember the name of the film.

    Hi William, Its a bit of a family joke here, its because i watch *the cruel sea* at every opportunity , my wife and sons take the Micheal, brilliant old film, KT

    Thank you Doc, Only read the book "Old man and the sea"

    Cappy like yourself suggested the correct name of the film in which I bawled my eyes out as a youngster one Sunday afternoon around 1966

    Another was Hitchcock's films "39 Steps" brilliant but the one I cannot watch ever again was "Psycho" scared the living day lights out of me.......and I'm here alone....blooming heck will have to change the subject........ very quiet on this thread... me thinks they are checking out Emanuelle
