I received a telephone call, Cold calling I suppose. Wanted to know if my working life had any bearing on the condition of my Listeners. I answered a few questions and was given a time and date for a nurse to come to my home examine me. True to there word she showed up asked me what my job entailed aboard ship, Constant noise chipping hammers / windy hammers / Constant bang clang from the Engine room while in or around the ally ways or cabins or eating in the mess ETC.... Was you at sea 5yrs or longer she asked yes I replied Where you given any protection for your ears nope. It appears that there is a compensation fund for loss of hearing for ex Seaman. Awaiting solicitors report will keep you all posted. Regards all Terry.

Got the same call last year, I asked numerous questions, thought it was a scam. Result went to a hotel where they checked my hearing etc. Three weeks later received a letter, saying they couldn't proceed blah, blah.

I did that, Had hearing tests , yes you have hearing damage, You are a Seaman?? NO CHANCE, !!!
There is no employer to sue for damages.
Wasted Half a day.

Hearing aids have two but only wear one when I came home in 1945 the war pensions gave me a pension of 7shillings and sixpence a for a week but I was suffering from ear problems so they sent me to a specialist who said it could be caused through the the pow days the war pensions then paid for my aids but about 10 years ago they stopped paying for any new aids Just recently I had to get a new aid and it cost me 3500 dollars
