mpS CLAIM FOR EXPENSES WHEN ATTENDING MEMORIAL SEVICES
Copy of my letter to the 'Daily Mail' re article of MP's claiming expenses to attend Noverber's memorial services, assume many of you will have the same feelings.
Sirs,
On Friday 11 May 2012 you printed a story re Minister’s £7 expenses claim for Poppy Day; in fact you named two ministers making such claims, needless to say that as a WW11 veteran I find this absolutely deplorable; in the past I have read where MPs also claimed for the wreath that they laid, this I also find disdainful. Attending memorial services especially in November should be an honour to any MP and civil dignitary therefore no payments of any sort should ever be made.Over the years I have attended my local memorial service to honour the Merchant Navy men lost in wars; thankful that I survived and lived to tell the tale others did not. The wreath I take is purchased by me from the British Legion.Today’s MPs do not give the example to the nation that they should, hence the expense affair recently; I say this having experienced fourteen PMs in my eighty-seven years.

it just shows what hypocrites they are, there attendances at memorial services meaningless, apart from trying to improve there image, i would imagine all transport costs to and from such events are charged for also, plus refreshments. they do nothing for nothing. i dont vote any more.

All MPs should be banned from all Memorials, They just use them for PR stunts, then charge us for the privilage.
They are the ones who start the conflicts then charge the Tax Payer for the hypocracy of attending the Memorials.
How Evil is that?

It has come to light that our The Right Honourable Secretary of State for the Envireoment, Food and Rural Affairs, The millionairess Caroline Spelman claimed for her unpaid interns lunch, which by law she has to provide in lieu of wages, Wait for it........ she claimed 18p for a single banana.
A few weeks earlier it cost her £64000.00p in court costs to try and stop the newspapers printing the story that her son had been taking illegal preformance enchaning drugs. I wonder how she will word that claim ,legal expences maybe.
