What amazes me with Bush fires out here in Oz. After they have gone through and left the place devastated, the following year the bush is back to normal as the whole area soon regenerates itself. The bush is mainly Eucolyptus trees. John Sabourn

Yes indeed these Trees seem to regrow at some fast pace!
However there is such a vast Area that there is always so much more Fuel even after the Fires!
So the following Year if conditions again are bad, there is no shortage of Fule to go up once again!
Suc a great expanse of Land here in Australia, not onlt NSW BUT ALL OVER!

Mooroopna is in Victoria Keith a long way from the NSW fires, however our turn will come. It's 29deg today here in Vic with a northerly blowing. All the undergrowth will dry quickly if this keeps up.My thoughts are with you Doc up there in the Blue Mountains.

    HI Vernon.
Glad to hear that you are OK, keep those sprinklers on the roof, and if you haven't done it already get some plastic bags and fill them with sand and stuff them in your down pipes, that will block your down pipes then fill your gutters with water that will help to douse burning embers which is one of the main reasons for fires in houses.
I know now that someone or something was looking out for us 9 years ago when we sold our house in Mt Riverview in the Mountains, we couldn't go through five years of fires again and having large helicopters dumping water on your roof. Mt Riverview for mates overseas is about two miles as the crow flies from Springwood and Winmalee, and were put on evacuation alert on Sat.
A friends house where I used to go for my writing group was burnt out in Yellow Rock bad place only one way in and out. .
No wind down here today Vern so it should be a bit calmer up there tomorrow.
    Look after yourselves
    Cheers Des

These are the worst Fires to ever hit us here in NSW!

    This is just in case!
Lithgow and Mt Victoria fires could now well merge making it a really serious situation for us here in Blackheath

So till later and i hope that i will still have a Computer!
    And a life !
    Cheers

The wind is due to come in tomorrow afternoon at a modest 20 to 30 Kms from the fires at Mount Victoria. But it is the gusts that are the real problem. We in Katoomba share your alert, Vernon that applies to both of us and we are fortunate to live opposite the Blue Mountains Rural Fire Brigade control centre. The big one about ten years ago came up to our back fence at nightfall with a roar and the Magnificent Firies just about had kittens because we were between it and the control centre across the road. A great flurry of activity on our part and a bit like the old slapstick movies. I thought my next door neighbour was not there so I had my garden hose spurting into his place as well as my own until he yelled out and and as I shone the torch on him he looked like he had just fallen in a creek. About six fire engines and about thirty capable firies stopped the fire in it's tracks.
