Think back 2 and a half years when the three wise men gave there pre election speeches on TV. I quote Cameron especially, We will look after the pensioners who have paid into the system all there working lives, He warned of benefit reforms but in the same sentence added those who need the help and are genuine will receive it. Sorry Davey boy you speak with fork tongue but then am i surprised no not at all never known any Tory minister to speak the truth. There is always a hidden agenda. And they are not finished yet wait until October then you will get your cuts, As for Glegg he might as well take a slow boat to china he has got his party from being third in line down to about ninth. I said at the time he jumped in bed with the Torys {Fools rush in } And boy has he cocked up Regards Terry.

uk pensions
like many of our members living in aus, south africa, ect, i too suffer from stupid outdated laws that see our pensions not indexed. mine is the basic and stays the same except for the fluxuation of the exchange rate. enough to buy the case of beer and bottle of scotch each month. but the most annoying rule set by the pension people is if i go to the uk on vacation, or anywhere pensions are indexed, i can notifiy them of the dates and they will increase the amount for that period. all except the states, no can do, as we are too close to the border and may spend the six month winter period there. a few years ago the alliance of brit pensioners had their case thrown out at the court of human rights in brussels as it was not deemed discrimination........ don't want to get going on the cheats or phantom families living in pakistan or wherever.
regards, stan

New Legislation.
Talking of Poll Tax/Rates/Community charge as it is now how about you Water Rates. The figure that you are charged for this has got nothing todo with the water that you use (unless you are on a water meter) but is todo with the ratable value of your house. In my avenue there are a number of people living on there own and then some with five occupants but all pay the same water rates, one paying the same as against five.I have applied for a meter and a surveyor is coming out next Tuesday,if you get a meter and it doesn't work out you can revert back to an annual standard rate. The figures given to me by North West Water state a household with two occupants could be better off by over £200 a year and one occupant over £300 a year.
Regards.

I got a water meter around 30 years ago when I lived alone, I was also at Sea for ten months of the year, My house empty. Next door had five workers all year round, and I paid the same so I got one.

The whole of the Isle of Wight was one of the first areas to install water meters compulsory, after the initial moans, no problems, if you use it , you pay for it. It seems to compare favourably with other systems of payment. KT
