My Wife and I both get UK pensions and USA , as my wife is from Airdrie Scotland and I,m a scouse , our Uk pension and US pension is not cut because we have more than 40 years of work over here ,and we do get the raise in UK pensions every year . we did not get a raise in our US pension for 2 years ,as a way too trim costs ,that went for everyone on US pensions .in fact we got more of a raise from UK percentage wise than USA . if you would like too emigrate too the states be prepared for unbridled capitalism ,its all about the $$$$$$.(god bless america )

Slightly off tack but still rellevent re new legislation.
Some time in the future, pensions are going to be set at £144.00 per week per person. BUT this does not apply to persons already getting a pension.
My wife and I who have both worked from the age of 16 to retirement and both having paid full tax and NI contributions recieve a total of £839.00 per month (4weekly payments) this would leave a shortfall of £323.00 per month at present rates i do realize that this pension will (Should) rise each year but it is not going to reach anywhere near £1152.00 per month. Has anyone else noticed this yet or does anyone know why it will not apply to us and I mean all of us on state pension, or am I wrong in my understanding of the issue

The missing link has now got about 30 other countries on the list that pay pensions to their ex pats. Wonder is they get upgrades? But what annoys me is the fact we paid into the system and get no increases, yet some in UK who have paid zilch get a pension.

Simple remedy for that John. Move back to the UK. Personally I will stay here and thank my lucky stars that I am not in a position to need a few extra cents a week from the UK pension.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

John A #12 do you think they will give married woman who didn't pay the full stamp the £144 pw pension.I would lose out if I was put onto the £144pw but obviously my wife would be far better off.

For some reason the polis just do not understand that bit and wonder why the locals, if there are any left, get annoyed about the system abuse.

    Default UK Pension

Our so called UK pension is stuck at 2002 level and will be until it stops at death. There are some out here stuck on a damn sight less as going back over the years when pensions were about 10 pounds a week they are stuck with it. Fortuanetly I worked in Australia for the stipulated time and due for a more positive Australian pension, and of course the so called British pennies are deducted before I receive. However I am not as badly off as some. At least don't have the huge heating costs here as the UK, or the huge Rates etc. Although if the present government in power can see all this likely to change. Another failure in uk is the pensions system if what we read in the International Papers is correct where so called immigrants are claiming for family in their home countries. How stupid are these so called intellectuals that are put in office to protect the rights of their own people . The only good thing that can be said is they are not in power all the time and can be got rid of to let another bunch of most probable no hopers in. John Sabourn
