I have mentioned this before and still of the oppinion that it is because the majority of our generation lived a good life of being born just at the end of the war or shortly after when labour started to be in demand. This allowed for most of us to purchase homes and educate our kids. Where we failed is that most sat back with a smug look and just let the politicians do what they wanted and this is the result. Not only are the new generation being screwed from all quarters so are we. I know it is slightly different here in Oz but not that much. The modern generation most of them can not afford to purchase a house and to many of them are either living with parents or in sheds to survive in some cases there are family's living in cars because of a housing shortage caused by our generation sitting back saying look how much my house has gone up in value. Never could understand that mentallity. Result similar to yours is that now we are advised to take out reverse mortgages. They give us a small percentage of the value of the home and it is deducted when you die from your esatate after years of interest has been added. Along with that if you need to go into a nursing home it costs you heaps especially if you own your own home. We have let this all happen because we are the ones over the years that have got the politicians that we deserve through complacency and so wrapped up in our own little world. So in a way all the whingeing about todays hardships can be firmly placed at our door. Just take a step back and have a good look at what we have done. Ended up with just two main political parties that it takes a lot to compare one from the other and elections are a joke now as the only change is the fecking name of the party. I just hope (as I have said often enough before) that the next generation have a lot more balls than ours did. It is no wonder that so called refugee's are swarming in to our country's because they are after a bit of the pie before it finally gets eaten up.
That's the way the mop flops.
My thanks to Brian for this site.
