Re: The New Omicron
Bit in the news today about Flu in UK.
According to the figures in the winter of 2018/19 some 79,000 died from Flu symptoms but that never made the headlines like this does.

Re: The New Omicron
Well here we go again in NSW and other States as i see. Just as i thought though with the Government Jumping too fast in relaxing the Mask wearing in crowded places. it had to happen.
So there mat be a possibility that we see Xmas in Lockdown ?????
All this sure puts a big damper on things all over the World too not only here, i wonder what will ever become of this ???
Time will tell.
As said though in earlier post, only good thing is that the new Strain seems not to be as bad the actual Covid-19 Initial one !
Have a great Xmas though wherever you may be and stay safe, wear those Masks!!!
NSW breaks national COVID-19 case record (msn.com)
I see the Netherlands has been put into Lockdown for Xmas ! So who is next!??

Re: The New Omicron
We have had a good run for our money in W.A. due to having a premier ex navy recognising the/only weapon against an infectious disease is isolation, until you know what it is. The dickheads who complain about him should look in the mirror and recognise themselves as being most of the problem . However when the borders are finally opened the same will happen as is happening in Tasmania. Some of these layabouts want to look up quarantine in the dictionary. JS

Re: The New Omicron
NZ is currently closing all borders, but one must ask why?
The virus will still be there when they open again, it is not going away, so why not try to learn to live with it?
When they do reopen al hell will beak lose again.

Re: The New Omicron
Hi Victoria.
All through the lockdown we only had two cases of Coved in Cooma, both returning travellers, Since the Parrot took over and opened up the state against the advise of his own Medical people it has sky rocketed, we already have four testing positive to the new strain in Cooma, they could possibly be people from Canberra who can't get near the testing stations as there are hours long que's there. My wife and I don't leave home without a mask on, to me common sense.

Re: The New Omicron
But Des what is the alternative?
Do we stay locked up until it goes away, doubt if it will, so what are the options?
Latest news from South Africa is that it is not affecting so many as first thought.
NZ is staying closed until late Feb, then the doors open and in come Virus.

Re: The New Omicron
No lockdown as yet here in NSW however cases up to over the 5000 mark Today!
Masks become Mandatory from Midnight again though, and QR Codes Re Introduced as well.
So there you go , off we go again almost but not quite back to Square one!
Although Omicron is not as bad , it is still something we have to watch, wait and see full results as to the actual Complications of it! So all one can do is as before!
Cheers
