#11… In Runcimans … we were leaving Rangoon by the light of the moon , was known as the Engineers song , that was the first line. The second line was …Sailing by night and by Day. And the last couple of lines was … Down the gangway we will go engineers in a row Bye Bye …….. moor we’ve been on this ship too bl—dy long, this four legged doxfords beginning to stink , or words to that effect. Hi Marian
All the emoji,s are a standard inclusion in everyone,s profile, so there is no way to reinstall. There may be an issue with your System somewhere!
Not actually heard of this before! Will however look into it!
Thanks

Re: John Hercus
Was in Glasgow quite a few times, on the Coaster British Scout, even saw her on a Billy Connolly show, sailing down the river. Don't know if it was when I was on her.

Re: John Hercus
Re reference to up the Clyde on a Banana boat, I believe that’s whatmost Glaswegians called the boats which took sewage “cake” down the water (the Clyde). From Shield hall quay . I believe they used to take pensioners on board for the day trip as a public service. Don’t know if this is entirely accurate, but like to believe it is

Re: John Hercus
Hi Doug.
That would be bracing for an old hand, taking a deep breath of the old briney mixed with a little added spice, especially if they had been to sea on some of the old tramps carrying wet hides.

#16, Well Doug, we learn something new every day! Think I'll stick with my childhood vision
Extract from the Scotsman:
“We’re the crew of the SS Shieldhall
Pull the chain and we’ll answer your call
Our terrible aroma
Will put you in a coma…” Jeeze the weans must have loved that!
