john a tip open all the packs and leave over night they swell a few mill when the air gets at the flooring if you have floor boards brush and mix jeyes fluid over the floorboards with a mop its kills any wood worm that may start{good tip for mary cappy} take of old skirting boards prime and undercoat both sides with a small roller don't forget to leave a small gap at the walls and lock the flooring down with the new skirting's.. as I used to say I don't want you to work harder just a lot faster.. jp

Absolutely essential Keith. I've had the simple metal cushioned board with two handles for years and beats the alternative of going on all fours to the nearest upright to hang on to.

Re: Busy Time Ahead
Then of course there is the 'five minute' job.
You know the one, she says it will only take you five minutes to fix it.
Let me assure you there is no such thing as five minutes.
The time required to complete a job is directional proportionate to the time the suggester mentions.
Five minutes is about two hours, ten minutes is half a day and half an hour is a full day job.
I had just completed building a new side gate and was in no rush to fit it yet, had some others jobs to complete.
It will only take you ten minutes to hang that new gate she said, got to get it done before we go away, yea right.
So to make life pleasant I agree to her concept of ten minutes.
Two hours later, have had to realign the posts, repair some of the fence panels by the side, I knew they needed attention, and repaired a fence top extension the ten minutes were long gone and forgotten. That was this morning, then she said have you got a minute............................................ . aahggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Happy daze John in Oz.

#22 Thanks for the tips John you can never have too much knowledge, the floor is up and the floorboards are all sound
I treated them years ago, I've got some making good to do from th skirting board removal and I'm having a day off
tomorrow, then I'll do the ceiling and walls and lay the new floor, I'm getting all the old aches and twinges back now
so it must be doing some good
, cheers. JC
